This tweet made me LOL. I think I shall do that as well.

Flash dance mobs always make me smile.
Technology is creating an ideal of beauty that literally doesn’t exist.
How cute are these belts?! Perfect for belting dresses and the price is right.
Celeste Barber is so damn funny. This video in particular is a good way to get a feel for her schtick.
I’m posting my go-to summer face tonight on Reels and this stick in Brûlée is the star. It’s just so easy-to-use and the glow screams summer bronze goddess.

Shall We Chat About Kids Clothes?
Over the past year, as my kids continue to grow and develop their own “style” (I use that term quite loosely), their clothing choices have become interesting. Well, not so much my son…I mean, he doesn’t give a damn what goes on his body. He truly could not care less, people. So I buy a melange of tees and shorts and crazy patterned socks (these are a favorite) and hope for the best.
(I must note, though, that his combinations are laughable. I mean, how hard is it to pick TWO items that slightly coordinate? Apparently VERY hard for this boy, as he’ll come out of his room in a burgundy t-shirt, bright red shorts, and pink socks. I like to call his look “variations on one color,” coming to a town near you.)
My daughter? The one who is 6 going on 13? Hold me closer, tiny dancer. Long gone are the days when I could dress her in adorable European dresses with leggings and call it a day. (Seriously, how I MISS THESE DAYS.)
Now? We’re walking through the mall and she wants to go to Justice. OH MY GOD. It’s like she’s magnetically pulled to that storefront by a force that renders her powerless to “peace, love, and besties” tanks adorned with unicorn glitter. She might as well be standing on a conveyor belt catapulting her straight to the cash wrap of the tackiest stores in America. Pass me the smelling salts, please.
In addition to the “style” issue, we have two other major factors that come into play.
1. My kids are growing like weeds.
2. My kids are extremely hard on clothes.
My poor son and his neglectful mama. As I type this post, he just walked into the room wearing shorts that can only be described as “Leiderhosen chic.” THEY ARE SO SHORT AND TIGHT. BUT I JUST BOUGHT THEM LAST MONTH. HOW IS THIS HAPPENING?! My mother just pointed out that his toes are practically busting out from his shoes! She just accused me of trying to bind his feet, like the Geishas of yore!
Everything is covered in stains. And too small. And we can’t agree on anything.
Do you feel me?
Well, let me tell you about what we’ve been doing the past few months.
Odds and Ends
1. Wow. Gawker is dead.
2. 1,2,3…USA women rule. First time in track history!
3. Um, this is the best Twitter rebuttal ever.
4. Having a rough day? At least a few of these photos should make you happier.
5. 17 psychological tricks to make people immediately like you.
6. These photos of youth in the 90s are spot on.
7. Squirrel hijacks a GoPro! Good stuff.
8. What it’s like to report on 2016 in 26 tortuous, hilarious seconds. “Polls. All of them.” Ha!
9. Congratulations to Ryan Lochte for winning Most Embarrassing American Olympian.
10. For my fellow green beauty fans, there is such an amazing deal going on at The Detox Market for the next couple of days. Basically, if you spend $175, you receive over $200 of free gifts. And the “gift” products are FANTASTIC. Items I’ve wanted to try for quite some time…just check them out for yourself. I had to replenish some of my skincare products, so this was a great opportunity for me. Be sure to use the code WOW! to receive your goodies.
11. Also, on the shopping front, this dress I wore for my #30daysofdresses last week is 25% off through the weekend. Hooray!
Happy weekend! It’s our last one before school starts. (Mama is thrilled.)

A Day in Peru
Excuse the disappearing act this week – I had planned on sharing my trip to Peru with you while I was there, but after quickly realizing that the average time to upload a simple Instagram photo was about an hour, I figured blog posting would have to wait. Of course, now all I want is to serve you this overflowing platter of words and photos.
(Hey, don’t run away! It’s only like 20 25 33 40 photos. That shows restraint, right?)
What an eye-opening, inspirational, and informative trip I had; in fact, the reality that I was only there for 3 full days is shocking, given everything I learned and experienced. On the trip with me were three of my wonderful colleagues, Kristen, Heather, and Rebecca, and it was so cool to experience one of my favorite organizations, Krochet Kids, with them by my side.
Krochet Kids intl. exists to help impoverished, vulnerable women get on their feet by providing them a supportive workspace, stable income, in-house childcare, and an incredible mentoring program that addresses not only the financial aspects of their lives, but the psychological, emotional, and social aspects as well. (I’ll be honest, before seeing the organization and mentors in action, I imagined “mentoring” to be a pat on the back and some positive, affirming words. It is so much more. SO much more…these women are truly changing all aspects of their lives with a very detailed and measurable program provided to them by the organization. KK intl. gives these women everything they need to start their own businesses once completing the program. More on that later…)
And, oh yeah, let’s not forget to mention what these women create. Beautiful, handcrafted accessories and apparel for men, women, and children.
Wardrobe Essentials: Pointy-Toe Flats
What’s your everyday look? Although I attempt to keep things fresh (but seriously, when will I realize that day dresses are a personal pipe dream?), I do have a mainstay ensemble combination that gets me through most days.
Blazer + Silk(y) Blouse + Denim + Flats = Happy, Stylish, and Comfortable
This is my personal style equation, and I’m a huge fan because you can really change up the vibe with different items from your closet.
Today, let’s talk about flats. Specifically, pointy-toe flats. (Is it “pointed” or “pointy?” A Google search sways me towards “pointed,” but I’ve always said “pointy.” Important issues, folks.) As you can see from my collection above, I have a thing for pointy-toe shoes. In the same way nude heels elongate the leg, pointy-toe shoes are a great way to add a little length to your overall silhouette. It’s like a mohawk for your feet, for reals.
The best thing about the current pointy trend is that the shape isn’t overly dramatic. Must I remind you of the the point from about 7-8 years ago? For crying out loud, people. How did I walk around without repeatedly tripping and face-planting? Glad we’re dealing with a much subtler shape this time around. Also, I am loving the d’Orsay style, as you can see in my roundup of favorites below.
1. Ankle Straps with Gold Detail, $60
2. Lucie Fabric Slingbacks, $248
5. Beatrice Ankle Strap Skimmer, $128
9. Dolce Vita Alpha Flat, $139
10. Camouflage Fabric Flats, $40
