GHD Platinum+ Hair Styler – Great iron for straightening and curling

GHD Curve Creative Curl Wand – This wand creates the most natural-looking waves due to its oval, tapered barrel. I LOVE IT.

Yves Durif Vented Hairbrush – the best brush for detangling wet hair after the shower
Mason Pearson Junior Mixture Hair Brush – I brush through my hair completely with this brush every night before bed

Clips: I twist my hair into a bun frequently and use 2 of these clips to pin in place.

My skincare routine involves the following steps on a daily basis:

Cleanse, Tone, Eye Cream, Treat with Serum(s), Moisturizer, SPF

In addition to my daily routine, I use exfoliators and/or masks a few times a week when time permits, but I am careful with exfoliation because too much can definitely compromise my skin barrier and lead to problems.

Here are my favorites in each category.

Face Cleanser – Foaming:

One Love Organics Easy Does Foaming Face Cleanser – I have used this cleans for years and years. Easy, simple, effective – takes all my eye makeup off without any irritation at all and I’m a contact lens wearer. I’ve been known to buy this in the jumbo size.
MAKE Beauty Succulent Skin Wash – The dynamic duo of this wash preceded by the Pre-Cleanse Fluid has become my favorite pairing of 2021.
Tata Harper Superkind Softening Cleanser – Soothes and softens stressed skin without stripping it. Excellent cleanser if you are using retinoid products. Creamy texture that has a micro-foam – it’s like the best of both worlds.
The Nue Co Barrier Culture Cleanser -This one-and-done treatment cleanser deeply cleans the skin, removing dirt, pollution, and makeup, without stripping or disrupting the skin’s pH. Soap-free, sulfate-free – it actively repairs the skin barrier and replenishes the topical microbiome by using prebiotics, probiotics, and postbiotics to leave your skin balanced, smooth, and nourished.
BYBI Milk Melt Vegan Oat Milk Cleanser – Super calming and balancing and a great price!

Face Cleanser – Oils/Balms:

True Botanicals Ginger Turmeric Cleansing Balm – This cleansing balm is pure heaven. It effectively removes my makeup, sunscreen, dirt, and impurities while nourishing my skin so it’s left clean, smooth, and feeling moisturized. It’s naturally scented with Ginger Root, Mandarin, and Neroli Oils so it smells like a dream. Oh, it’s also great for redness and rosacea. OBSESSED.
MAKE Beauty Pre-Cleanse Fluid – Formulated with a nourishing blend of omegas, bioactive green algae and cacay oil, this cleansing oil is designed to be used with the Succulent Skin Wash. It maintains the moisture barrier, leaving skin feeling soft, smooth and balanced.

Favorite Face Washcloths: MUN Organic Face Towels (reviewed the MUN line here)

Favorite Cosmetic Rounds : Jenny Patinkin Reusable Rounds

MUN Anarose Toner – Use every day and night. A lovely no-frills toner, always have some on hand! Review here.

True Botanicals Calm Nutrient Mist – So soothing for rosacea-prone skin, instantly calms my skin (reviewed the True Botanicals line here)

Retinol Treatment Serums:

African Botanics Resurrection Cell Recovery Serum – This is my holy grail and I become slightly stressed when I run out and don’t have backup. (Full review here.) Contains 0.5% retinol plus tons of incredible ingredients – a fantastic option for beginner/intermediate retinoid users.
Maelove Stargaze Retinol Serum – An incredibly affordable retinol treatment for beginners containing 0.25% retinol. Potent yet gentle and great for sensitive skin.
African Botanics Retinal Night Cream – Formulated with a creamy texture, this treatment serum contains 0.1 retinal so it’s for more advanced retinoid users. (Confused about all the different retinoid names? This post is for you.)
Maelove Moonlight Retinol Super Serum – Another very affordable serum by Maelove, this one is for more advanced retinoid users, formulated with 0.11% retinal. I really like this serum and feel like I’m seeing results consistent with Tretinoin, but without all the sensitivity and peeling.

Vitamin C Treatment Serums:

African Botanics Nutritive Molecule Serum – Expensive but an overall antioxidant powerhouse! I use this every morning after toning and it keeps my skin looking clear, bright, and evenly-textured. Vitamin C, Vitamin E, Ferulic Acid, Tannic Acid, Niacinamide, Superoxide Dismutase, Resveratrol, Green Coffee – it’s incredible.
African Botanics Vita C Corrector – I mix this with the Nutritive Molecule Serum daily, but this serum is so potent you can use on its own. Full review here!
Maya Chia The Super Lift – 3 years in the making, Susanne from Maya Chia hit it out of the park again with this firming and rejuvenating Vitamin C serum. It brightens, firms, and makes an excellent primer…this serum is the real deal. Exceptional for sensitive skin as well. My only hangup is the floral scent (not a fan of geranium over here), but the serum is so effective, I’m willing to overlook it.
Maelove The Glow Maker – Maelove hits it out of the park again – this time with an affordable Vitamin C, E, and Ferulic serum. If you are looking for a less expensive Skinceuticals CE Ferulic, this one’s for you.

Anti-Aging Serum (without Vitamin C or retinol):

True Botanicals Chebula Active Immunity Serum – If dryness/dullness, uneven texture, and fine lines/wrinkles are your concerns, I cannot recommend this oil enough. This hydrating anti-aging serum helps fight visible signs of aging while supporting the skin barrier. My skin always looks hydrated, glowy, and more youthful-looking upon application. (Plus, it’s hypoallergenic, non-comedogenic and pregnancy-safe!) Perimenopausal skin? Run, don’t walk.

I use this twice daily – in the morning before my vitamin C serum and at night before my retinol.

Facial Moisturizers – Oils:

African Botanics Fleurs D’Afrique Intensive Recovery Oil – *night only* I use this in combination with the Cell Recovery Serum and the results are very impressive. (I talk about the combo in this video.) I’ll never run out of this oil – love that it has retinol in it. #whysoexpensivetho
Le Prunier Plum Oil – A staple on my skincare shelf. 8x more powerful than Argan oil and 6x more powerful than Marula oil in protecting the skin from damaging free radicals! The scent is super addictive and it made my Top Clean Beauty Picks of 2019.
MARA Algae + Moringa Universal Face Oil – Packed with algae, antioxidants, phytonutrients, and essential fatty acids formulated to help nourish tired, dry skin. My skin feels super nourished, clear, and very bright when using this oil.
Maya Chia Supercritical Oil – The oil that turned me onto using oils as moisturizers. Still adore it.

Facial Moisturizers – Creams:

Tata Harper Superkind Fortifying Moisturizer – Another Tata Harper winner – excellent for sensitive skin. (No fragrance!) Formulated with hyaluronic acid to improve suppleness, a lipid complex to support a healthy skin barrier, and antioxidants to help fortify and nurture stressed skin. A compromised skin barrier’s dream. I’ve been using this as my last-step moisturizer both morning and night and it leaves my skin so plump and happy.

Tata Harper Water Lock Moisturizer – Love this cream. Incredible consistency, beautiful finish, doesn’t clog or irritate my skin, lovely mild citrus scent…chock full of peptides and macro hyaluronic acid. Also, It is engineered with a sustainable refill system to reduce overall waste. A recyclable refill pod locks into the refillable Water-Lock jar.
True Botanicals Moisture Lock Overnight Mask – Even though it’s called a “mask,” there’s no need to rinse it off as it feels like a night cream and absorbs rapidly. Simple, unscented hydration. Watch it transform my dry patches here.
MAKE Beauty Super Cell Deep Moisture Cream – Rich and dense in texture, Super Cell is formulated with orchid stem cells, phytoceramides, essential fatty acids, and a unique liposome delivery system, to help maintain a healthy skin barrier while imparting a visibly firmer, more radiant looking complexion.
Kate Somerville Delikate Recovery Cream – Great option when you need hydration for delicate skin. (It has worked wonderfully on my PD-prone skin.)
The Nue Co Barrier Culture Moisturizer – This lightweight moisturizer repopulates the topical microbiome, protects against pollution, and locks in moisture. Such incredible ingredients too – Squalane, Niacinamide, and a complex of peptides, ceramides and prebiotics, probiotics and postbiotics repair the skin barrier. My skin feels firm and fresh after using.

Eye Cream:

Violets Are Blue Eye-Luminate Gel Cream – This gel cream depuffs and brightens my eye area and is perfect for sensitive types. No essential oils and/or added scent make this perfect for just about anyone. I use this day and night definitely notice firming around my eyes. Also a great primer for concealer!

Twelve Beauty Rapid Eye Treatment – I use this every day! Lightweight, moisturizing, no scent. Non-sensitizing around my finicky eye area.

Josh Rosebrook Vital Balm Cream – This is just so lush and soothing and hydrating and calming. A++
Ouli’s Ointment – A favorite! I use this as a highlighter on my cheekbones, which gives me a dewy glow without any shimmer.

Honua Malu Protecting Day Cream SPF 30 – I love that this is a moisturizer and a physical block SPF so I can skip a step and it looks incredible under makeup. It smells like jasmine, which I can’t get enough of, but if jasmine isn’t your thing, take note.

Graydon Face Glow – This is a tinted moisturizer, primer, and illuminator in one and Iove it! I use this as a primer underneath my makeup for a little extra glow and it’s packed with skin-loving ingredents. (I also love how it has the faintest sweet scent. I could smell it all day!)

Vapour Velvet Glow Foundation – A lovely finish that looks good on mature skin. (Doesn’t seep into fine lines and/or wrinkles or look patchy.) The finish is soft and demi-matte – not overly dewy which is fantastic! I wear shade 115 or 123.

Exa High Fidelity Foundation – Semi-satin finish and totally buildable. 43 shades too! I wear Dana 430 but can wear most shades in the lower 400 range as the pigments are very adaptable.

Kosas Tinted Face Oil – Love this paired with their concealer  – I wear Tone 3.5 or 04. Full review here.

Tinted Moisturizer with SPF:

Saie Slip Tint Tinted Moisturizer SPF 35 – I was so pleasantly surprised by this tinted moisturizer! I didn’t have the best experience with Saie’s regular SPF (too shiny) so I was really happy to see how well this tinted moisturizer worked on my skin. I wear the shade Three and a Half when I have some color, but 3 for most of the year. It leaves a very natural finish on the face….just slightly dewy.

Finishing Powder:

Kjaer Weis Pressed Translucent Powder – My daily go-to in the t-zone. A lovely soft finish on the skin.

Kosas Cloud Set Setting Powder – Lovely – it doesn’t take away your natural glow – it just takes a bit of the edge off which creates a filtered look. Super impressed with this one.

Rituel de Fille Ethereal Veil Concealer – I will never be without this concealer. Super creamy and blendable and looks downright lovely on the skin. Can be used as a foundation with a satin-matte finish. Watch me applying it here.
Kosas Revealer Concealer in Tone 03 or 3.5 – Super brightening and hydrating. My full video review is here.
Clove + Hallow Conceal + Correct in 02 and 03 – Great price point at $20!

Highlighter Faves:

Rituel de Fille Rare Light Luminizer in Phosphene – A very unique peachy-beige glow that livens up the face.

Westman Atelier Face Trace Stick in Biscuit – Besides contouring the cheekbones, I love to use this as a neutral eye shadow, seen in this video.

Cream Blush:

Westman Atelier Baby Cheeks Blush Sticks – This formula is hard to beat and the stick form is so easy to use! I have 5 shades and love them all. You can see them swatched on me here.
Kjaer Weis Cream Blush – Another great formula. Favorites are Abundance, Sun Touched. Blossoming, and Reverence
Olie e Osso Tinted Balms – #9 and #11 are my go-tos – very subtle, dewy, and moisturizing finish.
