You can find my top picks of 2020 here!

Jewelry

My most frequently asked question has nothing to do with clean beauty…it’s my jewelry. #gofigure I am a 14k gold loyalist through and through and very rarely switch up my jewelry – I shower, swim, and do everything in these pieces.

I layer these three necklaces daily:

Ariel Gordon Satellite Chain
Aurate Diamond Bezel Evil Eye Necklace
Ariel Gordon Medallion Signet Necklace

Earrings:

Ariel Gordon Pave Huggies
I wear a Heart Silhouette Stud or this hoop in my left second hole and have a constellation piercing in my right earlobe.

Bangles:

I wear four bangles from Yearly Co – Original Yellow Gold, The Twist, The Stamped Initial, and The Beaded Bangle.

Watch:

Cartier Tank Solo

Pinkie Ring:

Ariel Gordon Moniker Ring

Hair

I made lots of changes with my haircut and hair care routine in 2020 – namely cutting lots of layers in a subtle shag shape and texturizing my bangs to emphasize my natural waves. Since then, I haven’t found it necessary to use a blow dryer at all, although I still use a styling iron around my face if needed.

However, you can find my complete pre-2020 hair routine + curling iron tutorial here.

Products:

Andalou Naturals Sunflower & Citrus Brilliant Shine Shampoo
Andalou Naturals Sunflower & Citrus Brilliant Shine Conditioner
EVOLVh SmartStart Leave-In Conditioner
EVOLVh Ultra Repair Reconstructing Masque

How I Style My Hair:

1. Wash, condition, and towel dry

2. Comb through with a wide-toothed comb

3. Work one pump of Hairstory Hair Balm throughout my hair and air dry

4. Style my bangs, which either means letting them go wild and wavy or smoothing them a bit with my styling iron

5. When my hair is almost dry, I spritz Hairstory Undressed Texturizing Spray all over to add some more texture and dimension. This spray is also excellent for refreshing 2nd and 3rd-day hair.

6. The most important part! I then use a bit of Hairstory Hair Powder at the roots around my bangs and crown which gives me textured volume and lift where I want it and accentuates my subtle shag shape.

Other Styling Products I Highly Recommend:

EVOLVh Super Curl Defining CreamEVOLVh WonderBalm Magic for Curls – A great combo for air-dried waves. Also, the WonderBalm is fantastic for blow-drying straight.
Innersense Whipped Cream Texturizer – A godsend for humidity and frizz!
Cleo + Coco Dry Shampoo – Love this dry shampoo. I use the Basil Mint scent and it’s lovely.

Styling Tools I Recommend:

T3 Cura Hair Dryer
T3 Lucea ID Styling Iron
T3 SinglePass Styling Wand
T3 SinglePass Compact Iron – for travel

Brush: I brush through my hair completely with a nylon and boar bristle brush every night before bed.

Barrettes/Clips: With the layering around my face, I like to pull my hair back frequently. These clips are fantastic for quickly pulling hair back in a chic way.

Skincare

My skincare routine involves the following steps on a daily basis:

Cleanse, Tone, Treat with Serum(s), Moisturizer, Eye Cream

In addition to my daily routine, I use exfoliators and/or masks a few times a week when time permits, but I am careful with exfoliation because too much can definitely compromise my skin barrier and lead to problems.

Here are my favorites in each category.

Face Cleanser:

One Love Organics Easy Does Foaming Face Cleanser – Words can’t express my feelings for this cleanser. I use this every night to cleanse my face (takes all my eye makeup off without any irritation at all and I’m a contact lens wearer). I love this so much I buy this in the jumbo size which lasts forever!
African Botanics Baobab Clay Cleanser – Use this in the morning to wake up my face

Cleansing Oil (I double cleanse with an oil sporadically):

Lovinah Dragon’s Blood Vitamin C Cleansing Oil – So luxurious. Full details here.
Countertime Lipid Defense Cleansing Oil – I looooove this cleansing oil because it rinses clean with water only, which is rare for oil cleansers.

Full review of all of my favorite face cleansers here.

Favorite Face Washcloths: MUN Organic Face Towels (reviewed the MUN line here)

Favorite Cleansing Sponges: Appearus Compressed Sponges (these are awesome for single-use – add water and they expand)

Toners:

MUN Anarose Toner – Use every day and night. A lovely no-frills toner, always have some on hand! Review here.
African Botanics Rose Treatment Essence – This comes in a pump, not a mist. (I do prefer mists overall, but this one is great regardless.)
True Botanicals Calm Nutrient Mist – So soothing for rosacea-prone skin, instantly calms my skin (reviewed the True Botanicals line here)

Facial Serums:

African Botanics Nutritive Molecule Serum – Expensive but an antioxidant powerhouse! I use this every morning after toning and it keeps my skin looking clear, bright, and evenly-textured. Vitamin C, Vitamin E, Ferulic Acid, Tannic Acid, Niacinamide, Superoxide Dismutase, Resveratrol, Green Coffee
Free + True Brightside Vitamin C Serum – A more affordable Vitamin C option than the above. Details here.

Facial Moisturizers – Oils:

African Botanics Fleurs D’Afrique Intensive Recovery Oil – I use this in combination with the Cell Recovery Serum at night and the results are so impressive. (I talk about the combo in this video.) I’ll never run out of this oil – love that it has retinol in it. #whysoexpensivetho
Le Prunier Plum Oil – My #1 oil for last-step hydration in the morning. 8x more powerful than Argan oil and 6x more powerful than Marula oil in protecting the skin from damaging free radicals! The scent is soooo addictive.
Votary Super Seed Facial Oil – Fragrance and essential oil-free, I adore this one for hydration. It layers so well with other products!
Indie Lee Squalane Oil – Ideal for sensitive and acne-prone skin. This is such a great oil for the price! At 32 dollars, it’s SO much bang for your buck.
Maya Chia Supercritical Chia Oil – Good price point and super hydrating! A great starter oil. (full review here)

Facial Moisturizers – Creams:

African Botanics Retinal Night Cream – This is an incredible treatment cream. I like to follow it up with the African Botanics Fleurs Intensive Recovery Oil, but you can use it as your last step.
Beautycounter Tetrapeptide Supreme Cream – the ultimate in night creams. Reduces fine lines and wrinkles, firms and tightens, so hydrating
True Botanicals Moisture Lock Overnight Mask – Even though it’s called a “mask,” there’s no need to rinse it off as it feels like a night cream and absorbs rapidly. Love this to lock in moisture. Unscented too!
Votary Super Seed Nutrient Cream – Fragrance and essential oil-free, this cream is lovely and pairs perfectly with the Super Seed Facial Oil.
Indie Lee Active Oil-Free Moisturizer – So great for combination skin!

You apply from the wand onto your lips and then let it set for a few seconds and you are good to go for at least 8 hours, no matter what you do.
