Pinterest-Old School Style

Remember my desk?

I love that workspace dearly, but we had a small issue with the painting.

Not that we don’t love that painting; in fact, it is my very favorite painting in the house by far. It’s just that the painting used to hang above our bed, and even though we tried many other pieces of art, we really missed the painting in that spot.

Then I had the BRILLIANT idea of putting up some inspiration boards above my desk. Since I can’t seem to get into Pinterest like I wish I could (too much visual stimulation for my delicate brain), I thought I would go old school. A trip to Ikea, three corkboards and some fabric later, I had myself some boards.

And our beloved painting went back to its home.

(After watching this week’s episode, I now realize we share the same bed as Rachel Zoe. Bah-nanas.)

And now the real fun begins!

(Instagram lovers – you HAVE to get prints with PostalPix. I have several on my inspiration board, and the quality is amazing. Thanks to Elisabeth for the heads up!)

I also get visually overwhelmed with Pinterest and can only play with it in small doses. LOVE the new boards though–brilliant!

I might be Pinterest’s biggest fan but that doesn’t mean I don’t thoroughly appreciate some old school clips. Loving the stripes you picked out. The whole desk set-up is very much reminding me of my favorite Kate Spade line-ups.

Oooh!! Would you do a tutorial? Pretty please? First on how you covered the pinboards with fabric and then how on earth you managed to get them to hang all at the same height and width from each other? I have two Ikea corkboards over my desk and the fact that they are about 2 millimeters away from hanging symmetrically makes me want to weep and rend my garments on a daily basis.

I still have & love an old school pinboard but I recently (as in last night) began to get the hang of Pinterest. Once I figured out how best to organize everything, it was like a sickness!

BEAUTIFUL! It worked…you inspired ME! Could you tell us how you covered those boards with the fabric so perfectly??? Ikea just opened in Denver and I am all over this!

Oh, your house looks so lovely! And your stripey inspiration boards are great — I might just have to make some of my own. I’m not even sure I’d be able to put anything on them, though, as they look so perfect as they are!

Love the old school boards…I am not into Pinterest at all but I love to see the ideas posted from Pinterest on some of my favorite blogs…

I wish there was an IKEA close to me! I guess I need to road trip to my bro’s in Plano to get my fix. (or visit my mom in Tampa)
