Maya Chia Super Naked Face OIL is the MVP

Oh, how I’ve been waiting for this day! The Maya Chia Super Naked Face Oil has launched to the public, and let me just say…this has been a labor of love for myself and the founder of Maya Chia, Susanne.

Okay, by “labor of love,” I mean Susanne steadfastly worked on multiple versions (for over a year!), sending said versions my way, only to have me respond with a bevy of additional requests.

What can I say, I’m ridiculously picky. #sorrynotsorry

But! This is why I can say to you with the utmost confidence that this oil is going to blow your mind. It’s perfection and I use it in so many ways. So let’s get into it.

The Story Behind the Oil

If you’ve been around for a bit, you might recall my intense love for the Maya Chia Supercritical Chia Oil. It’s the first facial oil that I fell hard for about 5 years ago – here’s my full review. It’s simply amazing – moisturizing but not congesting, light, fast-absorbing…I won’t repeat myself here, everything you could possibly want to know is in the review.

Well, over the past few years, I’ve also become quite fond of plum oil. Saying my skin adores it would be an understatement.

You know where this is going, right? Maya Chia has paired their ultra-lightweight, fast-absorbing chia oil with organic virgin plum oil from a beautiful COSMOS-approved, family-owned orchard in France to create a powerful duo that is nothing short of a nutrient-dense powerhouse for the skin. BOOM.

The Formulation

The skin-nourishing omega-3 and 6 fatty acids of Chia are the ultimate complements to the omega-9 fatty acids from Plum Oil.  As an added benefit, this oil is also infused with Astaxanthin, a super antioxidant (65x stronger than Vitamin C in combating free radicals), as well as COSMOS-approved Squalane (from a plant sugar), which has been clinically proven to increase cellular turnover by 34% and reduce the appearance of wrinkles by 51% during 28 days.

Best part? Super Naked is incredibly well-suited for sensitive skin or those sensitive to fragrance. (Waving from over here!) No added fragrance, but the plum oil imparts the most lovely naturally-occurring, marzipan-like scent – subtle and sweet, never overpowering. No essential oils either!

Super Naked Face Oil uses the highest quality natural, organic, and wildcrafted ingredients from conscious growers across the world and is always formulated without parabens, phthalates, synthetic fragrances, PEGs, and SLSs.

This oil is suitable for aging/mature skin, dry skin, oily skin, combination, and sensitive types.

Key Ingredients

Plum Oil – Derived from plum kernels and rich in Linoleic Acid and Oleic Acid, Organic French Plum Oil has the ability to nourish, moisturize, support, and protect the skin and hair.  It is able to penetrate the skin quickly, spread easily, and leave the skin feeling silky.

Astaxanthin – Sourced from a micro-algae plant, natural Astaxanthin is 65X stronger than Vitamin C. Studies have shown that astaxanthin enhances the antioxidant actions of Vitamin C.

Chia Seed Oil – Clinically proven to significantly increase skin hydration, reduce trans-epidermal water loss and increase the skin barrier function.

Squalane – As part of the formulation, Maya Chia also uses Ecocert/COSMOS-Approved squalane (from a plant sugar), which has been clinically proven to increase cellular turnover by 34%  and reduce the appearance of wrinkles by 51% during 28 days.

How I Use It

I use Super Naked three ways (I demonstrate all 3 here):

  • Makeup primer – 1-2 drops of this oil under my beloved Blunder Cover creates the most beautiful glowy (but not too dewy!), natural-looking finish. It’s downright lovely.
  • Skincare final step – this is what I use to seal in all the goodness of my serums and creams before bed. (Despite what you might think, oil goes on AFTER creams. As a rule, oils can penetrate moisturizers, but moisturizers cannot penetrate oils. Don’t get mad at me, it’s science.)
  • In my hair – Although it’s dubbed a facial oil, this product does beautifully in my hair. Just a few drops worked through the mid-section to my ends makes my hair so very shiny. FWIW, most hair oils weigh my thick-but-fine hair down…this one is light enough to provide shine and moisture without my hair looking greasy.

All in all, Super Naked is an incredible addition to my skincare (and haircare) arsenal. Use the code WHOORL10 for 10% off your order here and as always, feel free to leave any questions in the comments!

OK, I’m kind of excited about this lol. Two questions. First, could this be used in place of a stand alone Vit C oil/serum? My skin is combo – more oily in the summer, and the fewer products the better. And, do you add this to your hair wet or dry?

This is not a serum – it’s a moisturizer (although it does have some great ingredients). I would still use a Vit C serum before the oil. Also, I use the oil on dry hair. Hope this helps! xoxo
