Favorite Shampoo and Conditioner?

I’ll admit…I receive loads and loads of hair products weekly, but I have YET to find a shampoo and conditioner that I adore. What gives, people? Honestly, the closest I’ve gotten to sudsy infatuation is Infusium’s Moisturologie line. (5 bucks a pop at Target. SCORE!)

Does this problem stem from the fact that I have “normal” hair? Most of the products I see/receive for review are so specialized (colored, dry, damaged, volume-enhancing, etc…) What about us girls with the no-drama tresses?

Tell me, dear readers. What is your favorite shampoo and conditioner, inexpensive or pricey? Let’s all share with one another, regardless of hair type. Kumbaya.

I have extremely high maintenance hair and I have used practically every salon and drugstore brand on earth. I have coarse, frizzy, very thick curly hair with a dry scalp, and I try to avoid sulfates and other harmful chemicals. Right now I’m using Burt Bee’s grapefruit and sugar beet shampoo with Frederick Fekkai colourcare technician conditioner. An odd combination, but it works! The FF conditioner is the best I’ve ever tried. Really thick and creamy and moisturizing.

oh lets see…Aveda Smooth Infusion, Aveda Color Conserve, and my latest fave–Marc Anthony Strictly Curls. Even use the Marc Anthony conditioner on my two year old who has magnificent curls! I am very eager to try David Balbaii hydrating shampoo and conditioner—its next on the list.

For a long time I LOVED to switch out brands and try every new thing that came on the market, but for close to a year now I have been set on Bumble and Bumble Crem De Cacao. It smells delicious, and it makes my colored, fine hair feel like it has a good bit of body. I also usually use Bumble and Bumble Deeeep once a week, and I have just started occasionally using their leave in/wash out (you can do either with it) when I am in a rush and don’t want to spend time in the shower conditioning. B&B is super expensive, but I really feel like my hair is healthier and softer then ever so it’s totally worth it to me!

Such an interesting thread. I use Matrix sleek Look Smoothing shampoo & conditioner. My hair is nor quite wavy and not straight – too kinky & frizzy. So this helps me keep it under control & makes it easier to straighten.

Shampoo and conditioner are Pantene for Curly hair or Lacoupe for curly hair.

I have thick hair and a lot of them so they easily frizz. Once a week I use Pantene restorative mask which make wonders and the rest of the week Husk Str8. Both products are awesome to control frizzy hair.

I use the Garnier Fructis Body Boost Shampoo and Conditioner. I have uncolored, thin hair, but a lot of it. No body, and if it hits 24 hours since its last shampoo there is an oil slick. But this gives my hair the body it needs throughout the day. I can actually feel it plumping up in the shower. And it’s very inexpensive, under $5 each for the jumbo size bottle.

Biolage for colored hair. I love the smell. So planty and nice. I also like this new fancy ish brand that I got at CVS (they may even make it) called BioLUXE. It smells REALLY GOOD. I am mostly about the smell, as you can see.

PS. I am shocked by all the people using Garnier. Do you know the buildup that causes, people?!

I rotate between Redken Extreme and All Soft. I have thick hair that sometimes gets distressed from coloring and heat styling. I have had no luck with shampoo for colored hair — they never seem to prevent fading like they claim. So I’m happy with these shampoos.

I’m also fond of Infusium for the fine-but-copious, normal-needs, slightly wavy hair I have. A recent fave is Yes! To Carrots, but it’s more expensive – but at Target, they go on sale from time to time. It’s a gentle cleanser with a good moisturizing conditioner – WIN!

PS – Super scented stuff, scalp-tingling and natural oils like peppermint, rosemary and grapefruit makes my sensitive skin flare up and my hair falls out – NO joke. Garnier and natural name-brand haircare from Trader Joe’s or Whole Foods are my nemeses.

I love my coconut mango from Back to Basics. I have thick wavy hair with a coarse cuticle. My hair will suck all the moisture in a ten block radius. I like the smells from all the Back to Basics products, but I NEED the hydration from the coconut mango. I used to swear by Biolage, but I find that it’s not heavy enough for my tresses. I hate my hair much less regularly with my Coconut mango. Also, I love the smell. So not annoying.

I find that a lot of the products that are supposed to be hydrating actually leave a buildup or leave my hair feeling dry.

I miss the days when all I needed was Pantene. My hair was much less complicated in my adolescence.
