Maya Chia Illuminating Serum is Tops

Folks, I’m no stranger to highlighters. (Remember this showdown?)

Well, I have a new one in my arsenal, and dare I say, I might not be reaching for any others in the near future? (Still adore this one too, though!)

I am absolutely loving the Maya Chia Highlight of the Day Illuminating Serum in the shade After Hours.

This Illuminating Serum is a pearlized mineral sheen suspended in an ultra lightweight, easily absorbed infusion of the world’s most nutrient-rich botanicals, and created from the highest quality natural, organic and wildcrafted ingredients from conscious growers from around the world. The serum is never formulated with parabens, phthalates, synthetic fragrances, PEGs, and SLSs.

If you aren’t familiar with Maya Chia, the line is based around Supercritical Chia Seed Oil, which, yes, sounds so very serious. IT IS SUPERCRITICAL, GUYS. Nah, actually, that term comes from a patented process used by Maya Chia to extract the oil called supercritical extraction. This gentle oxygen-free, solvent-free process results in oil with a total absence of chemical residues and impurities, and one that most closely mirrors the chemical profile of the plant. (Which you know is important to me. #greenbeauty)

You can read more about the benefits of Chia Oil here. (I use this product my everyday skincare routine, btw.)

Back to the Illuminati! Uh, I mean Illuminating Serum. (When looking at the above bottle for the first time, my 10-year-old asked if I was involved with the Illuminati. Sure, son. Sure.)

The Illuminating Serum comes in three colors:

The Happy Hour – a cool-toned pink radiance

The Golden Hour – a warm-toned champagne radiance

After Hours – a bronze-golden glow for a believable sunlit sheen

I have been playing around with both After Hours and The Happy Hour.

After Hours on the left, The Happy Hour on the right.

Being the start of summer, I immediately gravitated to After Hours. By the looks in the bottle, I was concerned it might be too dark, but that was definitely not the case! It blends so beautifully on the skin. It gives the perfect beachy sheen and the smell/texture is fabulous. I just put a drop on my palm and apply on my cheekbones, bridge of nose, inner corner of eyes, and cupid’s bow of my lips.

The Happy Hour is quite lovely too, and I see myself reaching for it in the cooler months, as I love pink tones.

Here’s a quick review I posted on Instagram stories about the product.

All in all, it’s such a lovely product!

My favorite weekend activity is hiking with my husband. It’s an opportunity for us to unplug, talk (real talk), and connect with one another.

I’m currently living in southern California, but every summer we head back to my home in Alabama for an entire month! It’s amazing. My kids get to see lightning bugs, experience huge thunderstorms, eat fried okra and field peas, and sweat like they’ve never sweat before.

Favorite summer activity is definitely camping! There is a super wimpy person (thats me!!) backpacking trail to camp on this gorgeous stretch of coast. That is my favorite camping trip every year:)

Our summers are spent enjoying backyard barbecues and going camping. We could go camping every single weekend if it were possible!

I used to take summer for granted but now that I live in the east coast and have kids I realize how AWESOME summer is! My favorite summer activity is making ice cream with my boys! We make it in the morning and then have it for dessert at dinner, and with summer fruits like strawberries and peaches we make some pretty awesome ice creams

Thanks for sharing in the video the name of the SPF you are using this summer, I will be looking it up.
My fav part of summer is being outside more – so much better than being cooped up!

So hard to pick one! An outdoor concert, impromptu beers by the lake, warm nights on my parents’ deck with the kids, shucking corn…love it all.

    Gorgeous!
Just finished a bottle of illuminating concealer and was looking for a non toxic alternative. Love that you have focused on this over the last couple of years
Favourite summer activity is a toss up between getting out into nature for a hike or laying outside with a glass of wine and a book

My favorite summer activity is going on hikes with my family in the beautiful state parks we have in Oklahoma! :)
Which means generous amounts of sunscreen and, I’m just getting comfortable with using “illuminating” products so I’d be so pleased to be able to try these and glow in the summer sun ?, thank you for the chance!
