Lisa Eldridge

First off, thank you so much for your comments on the boot camp post. Every single one put a huge smile on my face and made me jazzed to work that much harder in the upcoming months. I don’t say this enough, but I feel so lucky to have such a rockstar group of individuals reading this blog. Regardless of what I ramble on about, you always manage to be my very own cheering section. So, thank you thank you thank you!

Okay. On with the subject du jour. MAKEUP. I’ll admit it, I’m slightly obsessed with makeup tutorials on YouTube. Although the majority of tutorials go way beyond my personal day-to-day look, there is something about watching a face completely transform in 5-10 minutes that just sucks me in. Love love love.

A few months ago, I stumbled across some videos by Lisa Eldridge. (Am I the only person who immediately thinks of this when saying the name Lisa? GIMME DA KEYS!) I was instantly drawn to Lisa’s video tutorials because we share the same coloring, so it was easy to envision how her makeup selections would look on my face. I watched a video, then another, then another, and suddenly my entire Saturday had passed. She is amazing – her looks are fresh and current, her manner is lovely, and I could listen to her British accent all day long. I’ve seen every single one of her videos (some upwards of ten times), and she completely inspired me to revamp my makeup collection and focus more on my skincare routine. In fact, many of the products I talk about in my Monthly Favorites videos are ones I learned about through Lisa’s tutorials.

Folks, what I’m trying to say is that I’m dangerously encroaching Single White Female territory over here.

Here are my three favorite videos by Lisa, but you must check out her blog as well. I adore her!

I had to stop watching because I suddenly wanted everything she was using. Checking the prices. Calculating costs. Everyone knows it’s totally unreasonable to go into debt because of makeup. But, Lisa really is a gem. Maybe when I have a real, grown-up job I’ll reevaluate her suggestions. :)

Will have to check out videos. One thing that is plaguing me now- turning 50 next year. I’ve kept trim and I’m current on hair (no mom cuts thank you very much) but makeup? It’s like clothing at this age. Nobody wants to go full out grandma and look dowdy but some makeup looks are huge no-nos once one reaches a certain age just, as certain clothes make one look like mutton-dressed-as-lamb.

Trying to figure out this new land of of, um, textured skin…. and looking for good video links to look good without looking like I’m trying to be hot.

But you- again, like my comment yesterday- you look amazing and sharp! I get a lot of good hair info from you!

Oh, and one more thing. Does she have a SINGLE wrinkle on her face?! No, I don’t think so.

Another huge goal for the year. It’s crazy to think that I planned on being a make-up artist when I was entering college. Now? My skills and ‘know-how’ have dropped entirely. I wear mascara, blush, lipstick… and that’s it.

I’ve been wanting to learn more, so that I can created new looks when I go out. I have the same coloring as you, so this is a perfect place for me to get started on this goal. Thanks!

Love it! Thanks for the heads up the MAC color for blue eyes is discontinued. One less goose chase for me! I’m interested in the Rimmel too. Let us know if you get some. ;-)

Okay, you now owe me $147 because I had to shop for the perfect foundation, concealer and primer thanks to her videos! Crap. I really want the RMK Creamy Polished Base but of course I have to get to London to get it, ugh. Wonder if someone on eBay has it, have to go look.
