Wondering…

What is the deal with Weight Watchers? I swear I have read countless entries this week about Weight Watchers. Is it post-holiday diet time? Is the plan THAT good? Sounds like a cult to me.

Hey, I like cults. So I figured what better way to get these remaining pounds (5 now! Not 8! Cardiac Hill!) off. I signed up for WW Online on Sunday and was assigned 19 points per day. And then I realized a Chipotle burrito has 27 points. And then I quit.

The End.

Looks like it’s just me and the hill. Peace.

I love Weight Watchers. It’s the only plan that lets me eat what I want. *cue swirly zombie eyes* Weight Watchers is the bessst. Join us, Whoorl. Join us!

Yeah, the only thing I hate is that most of my favorite foods are practically double my daily points allowance. This has had the unsavory side effect of making me order bols at Chipotle. I’m not proud. Also, I know Darren told you your Whoorlgaritas are 30 points a pitcher. But that’s why we have flex points, right?

I’ve been up and down, but a couple years ago, I lost about 25 pounds on it. I’ve gained about 10 back, and am trying to lose that, plus a few more. As of this morning, I’m down about 3!

From a former “big girl”…it’s all about balance. Eat less, move more. Have the goods one day and be healthy the next. Two other tips to lose 5 lbs:

    1. Get the Stomach Flu (ha ha) or maybe go to Mexico again? ;)
    2. Don’t eat anything for a few hours before bed

I still have wine, etc. and can maintain my weight…Cardiac Hill sounds like a good option too :)

I joined weight watchers through work a few weeks ago. I lost 20 pounds with exercise and keeping a food journal about 3 years ago. Then this past year I gained 10 of it back.

I exercise a fair amount (and am working with a trainer now), so I know it’s my eating habits. They started a Weight Watchers group at work a few weeks ago, so I joined to try something new. I only have 19 points as well, which if I stick to my routine is fine, but any time I stray even I little I’m over my points. Tomorrow’s my third weigh in, so hopefully I’ve lost something!

You make me laugh. I too have debated WW, since so many seem to find success with it. But I guess I am still holding out hope for my plan of moderation to kick in. We’ll see.

  5. Joining WW Again

Technically, Cardiac Hill will buy you a boatload of Activity Points under WW, which could earn you most of that Chipotle burrito.

Also, I’ve sometimes combined the WW stuff with that French Woman Diet strategy of eating half of what is placed in front of you (for foods that are higher in calories, not salads). But, again, that requires restraint, of which I have none.

So thanks for reminding me, I need to join WW again.

Now, wait. I’ve made so many visits to Chipotle that my body is 63% burrito, and if I can count points, anybody can count points.

Dude – totally a cult. Of course, I am uber-wary of anything that seems too structured. I went for a while as a support to my MIL, but over the course of twelve weeks or something I lost exactly 2 pounds and became obsessed with what I was eating or not eating. Since I was um, bulimic in high school that was not a good thing for me so I quit going, got off the scale and now I only worry about how my clothes fit and if I did any kind of activity today.

Won’t be long now before Anders is moving around and you’ll be chasing him. Jillian is already waving her arms and legs around like she wants to crawl so I just feed her a Snickers bar and a can of Coke and let her drag me around.

I spent my WW days completely smashed. The reason? One shot of Smirnoff vodka is only half a point. In my points-obsessed brain, all notions of event-appropriate (eg quiet night in the pub) drinking went out of the window. ie “Hey, why have one glass of wine (2pts) when I can have four vodkas?” It works though. But it drains your soul.
