What’s Your Favorite Tinted Moisturizer or BB/CC Cream?

Well, it’s just about time for a new cosmetic hunt, my friends. This time around? Tinted moisturizer or BB Cream or CC Cream or basically anything that will make my face look less, well, the way it looks right now. Is that too much to ask?

So, I did what I always do. Asked the smartest people in the world on my Facebook page. And the replies were abundant – feel free to read the 70+ recommendations yourself. Or! Take a look at this colorful masterpiece that I created just for you.

PIE CHART. Is that some old school Whoorl or what? (You guys need to click on that link, if not just to be reminded of that awful haircut I got way back when. Remember The Barracuda? HOT.) So, yeah, pie chart. I’m still highly scientific. (Except the percentages part, which I left out, because I…I just don’t know how to make that happen.)

In a nutshell, 41 different tinted moisturizers, lightweight foundations, and BB/CC creams were recommended, and I pie-charted the top 8 for you.

Here are the winners:

NARS Pure Radiant Tinted Moisturizer – The overall winner. And you know I love my NARS…

Bobbi Brown Tinted Moisturizer – A solid second, good ol’ Bobbi has lots of fans.

Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer – Coming in 3rd, this suggestion by many made me laugh because I specifically said that this product did not work for me, yet people felt inclined to mention it again and again. (I do not like it at all. I wish I did, but I don’t.)

Tarte BB Tinted Treatment – This was in a three-way tie for 3rd place, and I am very interested because it scores a 2 (!!) on the EWG Skin Deep website that I’ve loved for years and years. (I don’t always follow it, but love it.)

Chanel Vitalumiere Foundation and others – Besides the Vitalumiere, I’m not sure what other Chanel products were mentioned, but people like ’em.

The next 3 tied for 4th place.

Beautycounter Tint Skin Complexion Coverage – Another must-try product for me because of its low EWG score. This company’s mission is to get safe products into the hands of everyone.

Dr. Jart+ Premium Beauty Balm – Who is Dr. Jart? Do I need to try this stuff?

Clinique Moisture Surge Tinted Moisturizer – You know how much I adore my beloved Airbrush Concealer…maybe the tinted moisturizer could fit the bill.

There you have it, folks. Have at ’em. As for me? Here’s the deal. I’ve spent an exorbitant amount of time cleaning up my lifestyle over the past few years, and it always surprises me that I eat a clean, gluten-free diet with very minimal sugar and barely any processed goods, I clean my house with nothing but organic cleaners, and spend mega time reading labels for my kids’, yet STILL put stuff on my body and face that is known to harbor crazy chemicals. What the WHAT.

So! I’m going the healthy route, and am hot after 4 products right now – Beautycounter Tint Skin, Tarte BB Tinted Treatment, Clinique Moisture Surge CC Cream, and Supergoop Daily Correct CC Cream. All 4 of these products score a 3 or lower on the EWG website, and I’m confident I can find one that I will love.

(Although, seriously, I bet any of those top 8 would be fantastic if you aren’t as concerned with cosmetic ingredients. Love me some NARS!)

Now it’s your turn. Help out your fellow makeup-loving ladies – what is your favorite tinted moisturizer or BB/CC cream?

I too have gotten rid of most of my paraben/sulfate products including my bbcream, just yesterday i bought alba’s at our good old sprouts (that i hit up just days after chatting, thinking i was missing something) the texture is very smooth and light. i still plan to try beauty counter’s, i have really enjoyed their other products.

I used the Dr. Jart BB cream (the non-acne formula) and I liked it, but I wanted it to be a little lighter. I’d be interested in knowing which of these creams feel like they’re not on your face at all! I don’t use foundation or coverup, so the only thing I put on my face in the morning is moisturizer. I’d like to use something to even out my skin, though.

After marrying a chemist who was HORRIFIED by the ingredients in my hair/skincare products, I’ve been trying to eliminate harmful chemicals from my daily-use products for the past two years. It’s tough giving up the old favorites that work so well! One brand I really like for moisturizers and lotions is Andalou Naturals (you can find them at Whole Foods). Their untinted BB cream is the best chemical-free sunscreen/moisturizer I’ve tried (they make a tinted version, too) and I also like their Renewal Cream.

I’m excited to see what you think of the Supergoop. I just watched a beauty youtuber rave about it earlier this week & was tempted to pick some up.

I most recently tried the Boscia Broad Spectrum (http://www.sephora.com/b-b-cream-broad-spectrum-spf-27-pa-P288804) and I LOVE it. It has a good score on EWG (a 2 or 3, I can’t remember) and its not greasy or weird. Another one to try if the others don’t work out! I have heard great things about the Tarte one you’re trying, please report back :)

Thanks for this! Does anybody know which ones are green-tinted, for us prone-to-redness folks?

Tarte is by far my favorite of the BBs I’ve tried. But I just read this article about how BBs are overrated—no better than tinted moisturizers that have been around for years. Are we paying for the BB name? I’m not sure. BTW, I thought the Dr. Jart was awful. The color just didn’t work on me, no matter which I tried. Strange smell too.

I love my Josie Maran Argan Oil tinted moisturizer… but I’m curious about the EWG score now.

Try Colorescience Sunforgettable Primer. It is so light and comfortable and looks great. Also scores a 2 on EWG Skin Deep.

I’m a Bobbi Brown gal, but now I have my eye on the Tarte BB Tinted Treatment…

I have extremely sensitive skin and most brands don’t work for me. A couple of years ago I heard of a small business that makes organic makeup, Cowgirl Dirt (cowgirldirt.com). I tried the Southern Belle Cream Foundation and love it. It is very light like a tinted mouisturizer and my skin loves it. Their products are 100% natural and organic. I highly recommend them. And, the best part is you can buy samples for 99 cents. No expensive fails! Check them out. I think you’ll agree they are great.
