Your Dad refurbishes watches, collects guitars *and* has a candy drawer? You have the coolest Dad, ever.

You’re making my spending hiatus extra difficult. Please find ugly things that I wouldn’t buy anyways. *grin* Thanks!

No doubt your Pa reads your blog with some regularity and no doubt he’s put Bloom’s Ettan Eller necklance on the birthday list of what to get Sarah. This is the best way ever to get the wish list out to friends and family!

    whOOrl gOOrl,

Most all mechanical watches (with the exception of COMPLICATIONS) have the same components…

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Watch_movement.png

The wheels (not gears!) on the necklace are 2nd, 3rd or 4th wheels. The basic wheel configuration is relatively (and surprisingly simple). The crap hits the fan in the balance and escapement area of the mechanism…the balance, jewels, hairspring, pallet fork and escapement wheel.

Many wheels in finer movements are solid alloys of gold. The holy trinity of makers is comprised of Patek Phillipe, Audemars Piguet and Vacheron Constantin. I would add Piaget (who still makes their own remarkable movements)…and mebee Jaeger Lecoultre…

However…when it comes to whOOrled-class taste and design…Cartier….even though they only made a few movements, as did Tiffany way back when.

I won’t take anyone seriOUsly unless they’re wearing Cartier. ;^)~

    yo dad

Hi Sarah! I just want to say thanks for introducing me to Barney’s Co-op. I really mean that too…you are, in my book, the epitome of style on so many levels! I had no idea that Barney’s was even on line, let alone a Co-Op! Woohoo! Keep posting what you’re not buying…it’s opening up a whole new world of style!!!

    Hugs,
    Michelle

I love this…so delicate, but not frilly. Right up my alley!

    Your dad sounds pretty rad.

Wow! You are so, as they say (and I hate, lol) “on trend.” The March issue of Elle has a necklace by Etten Eller, and it is seriously probably the only thing in the whole mag that interested me. Page 160 if you are so inclined to further punish yourself.
