Cross-Front Sundress

Guess what? I’m going to Kauai in ten days! This development happened in the blink of an eye and I might be breathing into a paper bag right now, but I’m thrilled beyond belief.

D and I never had a true honeymoon. (I know what you are thinking…we got married in Hawaii, for Christ’s sake. However, we had family with us the entire time. Is that a honeymoon, I ask? IS IT? MOST CERTAINLY NOT.) We really need this right now.

So, Hawaii. This puts a little bit of a damper on my No Shopping Mandate, as my two bathing suit bottoms look like I took a dump in them. A little baggy in the rear department, thanks to a combination of worry and Jillian Michaels. I need a new bathing suit, some bathing suit coverups and maybe a new pair of flip flops.

In a Daddy Warbucks-attempt to make my February blues disappear, my most wonderful father presented me with a check for $300. I am going to use this money to fund my Hawaii wardrobe…reporting everything to you in the process.

Luckily, I have found my two bathing suit coverups for cheap!

suitcoverup

$15, Old Navy

I don’t think this was made to be a bathing suit coverup, but it’s perfect. Super lightweight cotton and ideal for drinks by the pool. I also am buying this in black with my 30% Give and Get promotion…let’s tally it up!

Purple dress: $15 (on sale)

Black dress: $19.50

Total (with 30% off): $24.15 + tax

I also ordered 7,650 bathing suits from J. Crew yesterday in hopes to find ONE that fits. I can’t wait to return approximately 22 pieces to my local store. They will LOVE me.

Sending good vibes your way. Even my Long Island hubbie loved Hawaii. (He claimed that in Long Island, everything on the beach could kill you). Enjoy yourself, and save some of your dad-money for some delicious food.

Yay for you!!! I LOVE Kauai!!

David and I just got back from our 5-months-late honeymoon to Maui….with 18 of our closest friends and family. After less than 48 hours we decided that this? Was most certainly NOT going to count as our honeymoon….so we’re going to Kauai next February ALONE.

Have so, so, SOOOOOO much fun. Can’t wait to hear all about it. Please tell me you’re leaving Wito home…

PS. Great job on the shopping. CUTE purple dress!

Have you posted about your wedding before? I’m in the pre-planning stages and have been thinking about a super tiny Hawaii wedding, just like it appears yours was (grammar fail?). I would love to know where you had yours! It looks lovely!

Well, I’m going to Old Navy. Alooooone. When my husband can watch our toddler. Although they have great boy-toddler clothes there. But now that I’ve seen that “cover-up”? It’s all about meeeee.

On another note, I highly recommend Caffe Coco in Kapaa, Kaui. It’s totally local in a comfortable, haole-friendly way, the food is fresh and gourmet, it’s cute, outdoors, has fairy lithgts, is intimate and the entertainment–man, we could have stayed all night. Very romantic and sweet. We ate at pretty high-end (for Kaui) restaurants, but Caffe Coco beat them all out. It’s a jewel.

Hurrah! for much needed breaks. We are taking our little vacay at the end of April. I have been to Oahu and the Big Island (Hilo & Kona), but never Kauai.

Have a great time – it’s so beautiful! If the restaurant Postcards is still on the north side of the island (little white building, all organic food, maybe one of the best breakfasts of my life), please eat and report back. Or just go enjoy your vacation, sounds like you’re ready for it.
