Men’s Summer Hairstyles

Richard needs your help!

This very patient man has been on my waiting list for over a year and sent me another update this morning.

I’ve got three months of new growth here, and am at that “in between” stage where I’m either going long or cutting it off ….  It’s four inches long on top and between three and four most everywhere else, and as wavy as usual…. I was all set to cut it off until a stylist mentioned that I have nice wavy hair, and how she has all these clients growing their hair who shouldn’t, but I should.

If I cut it, I will cut at least three inches (maybe more – I’m not a halfway kind of guy!), and that’s six months to get it back, so that’s the only reason I’m hoping you have time for a quick response…. If I cut it now, I will grow it back with the Eric Bana look in mind for the fall…

The gist of the matter is whether or not Richard should chop it all off or keep growing. After looking at photos of very short haircuts sent to me by Richard, I don’t think a super short haircut is the way to go. Richard has a nice wave pattern, so there shouldn’t be a need for him to chop off his waves completely.

Take a look at my options for Richard. (With Eric Bana in mind…)

Option #1 shortens the sides considerably, but leaves enough length on top to show off Richard’s waves.

Option #2 is an all-around longer look. Richard would need to continue growing the back of his hair for a little while longer while cleaning up the top and sides.

What do you think? Richard really wants to know!

i chose option 1 for Richard. It’s the summer and shorter hair is alot more cooling. I also think that it would be easier for him to maintain with the right products since I have spoke with him and he is border line maintenance and non maintenance

Richard, you need to embrace your inner tiger and go for that sexy longer style in Option #2….hang in there and grow it out a little while more, and picture yourself coming out of the summer waves and smoothing back those long wavy locks on the beach. Or if that image doesn’t work for you, you can always cut it later. Good luck!

Option 1 would be easier to manage and is more suited for the Summer. You can always grow it out if you decide to change your mind. I know you will ROCK any style that you choose.

Richard could go either way with his hair and still look as handsome as any guy in GQ! However I think both Richard and Bana look so much more interesting with shaved heads or buzz cut. He, Richard has the features to wear shorter hair and as he is young he has tons of time to wear a longer length as time goes by. Or even in the winter months! I like longer hair but on older men like my neurologist Dr Katz who wears his hair in a pony tail!! A pony tail and a Armani jacket and a great intellect.
I do like the waves and I do like it shorter.I am undecided between the two shown but woulld lean towards the shorter. I would love to see a third option where you buzz it. He could definitely carry it off- He has a great look and lovely features couple his beautiful eyes with shorter or buzzed head and he is dynamite because he also posseses an intellectual look!!
I have attached a link where Bana has a bald head- This could easily be Richard?

RICHARD: To cut, or not to cut– that is the question:
Whether ‘tis nobler in mind to suffer
The scissors and shears of outrageous coif-dom. . .
Or, perchance to dream: ay, there’s the cut,
For in that daydream of longer locks what dreams may come
When we have shaved off this mortal mane,
Must give us pause. There’s the respect
That makes calamity of so long hair.

I think Richard has to decide how much time he wants to spend playing with product in the a.m. I vote for #1 because it is good looking and easier to keep up. Can’t wait to see the outcome! Margo

I agree with the last post, how much time do you want to spend “doing” your hair in the morning, Richard? I think I would go with style #1 – a more wash-n-go style for you! Hot stuff!
