hair thursday makeover 39

Lauri’s hair:

Light brown – trying to kick the highlighting habit and get back to her natural color
Normal to dry
Stick straight, baby fine, but lots of it
Prefers length between chin and shoulder and no bangs
Product junkie – Frederic Fekkai, Aveda, Bain de Terre
No layers

From Lauri’s photos, she appears to have a heart-shaped face with a high forehead. In general, a heart-shaped face should steer clear of blunt bangs, super short hair and/or really choppy layers. Subtle layering is really the key for Lauri.

I find it a damn shame that Miss Lauri has no interest in subtle, sideswept bangs because they could really lessen the appearance of height and width in the forehead, plus add some dimension to her hair. Looking at her requests, she prefers the length between chin and shoulder, so I would recommend a chin-length bob for her shortest option, with just the slightest layering in the front like Option #1. That way, the cut won’t look too severe. I also like the idea of a side part.

Now, as much as I would like to stick to Lauri’s wishes, I am going to suggest an option to keep her length and add bangs. VERY SUBTLE ONES. Option #2 would totally complement Lauri’s face shape and hell, I’VE BEEN DEEMED THE HAIR EXPERT, RIGHT? Listen to me!

Plus, look! It’s Babs!

People, people who need…people…

You can barely see those bangs! Notice how the forehead appears minimized, and how Lauri’s perfectly shiny hair would look so lovely in general. Of course, #1 is cute too. Decisions, decisions.

Alright, that is all for now.

Please vote.

Bangs it is… I hear you loud & clear

Thanks for the input everyone and for the record… I was wide open to any change.. never had any certain requirements, but stated when I applied that this is how I was wearing it.

Lauri, I’m confused from your above comments. Are you saying you changed you mind since your initial email or that you never had any certain requirements? Your questionnaire stated:

“4. Do you have a preference for length? If so, what? I adore bangs on other people, but am over them about 20 min after the fact, I like it between my chin & shoulder length….. just long enough to pull in a pony tail or in a clip, but I am willing to go shorter for the right cut.”

I must have misunderstood because that didn’t seem wide open to me, and a super short haircut wouldn’t have been a good option for your face shape. Regardless, I think bangs will look great on you! Good luck!

I am so jealous of your stick straight hair! I like long, layered hair with bangs, but do whatever you like!

Lauri, You’ll look beautiful no matter what. Maybe a cut within your current length won’t be drastic, but subtle changes can make a big difference, too. I think the subtle bangs would look great.

    Sarah,

Just to clear this up for voters- I have changed my hair a little since six months ago when I applied with those photos- mostly adding layers to the bottom so it is less blunt.

I said that I adore bangs, but it’s a short lived love affair and by preference, I assumed you meant how I typically wear it but not what I was limiting my choices too.

I have normally had blunt bangs, so I am anxious to try out a side swept version.. thanks for the feedback

could we see an updated picture of lauri’s hair? i feel bad now for the harsh comments and lauri, i think everyone just wants you to have the most prettiest hair possible.

i recently just got new side-ish bangs and i admit, they require a bit more maintenence and since my hair grows like a weed, i have to have them trimmed a lot.

but i do think they add definition to your hair, face shape and lauri, i think they would look really great on you.

THE DRAMA!! Lauri, you’ve got to send us a picture with your new haircut as soon as you get home! We’re salivating! And BTW, I think Whoorl, Lauri and Kat did an awesome job of “teasing out” this sticky hair situation!! Good job girls!

Ouch! I don’t want to be a mean girl! I meant to be a supportive, encouraging girl! Except for my “ridiculous request” comment; I think we all misunderstood your requirements.

You are a beautiful woman with lovely bone-structure and great hair. Can’t wait to see the updates.

I think we all need one big group hug !

Lauri…I hear you on the love hate relationship with bangs. Bend over & bam they swing in the way.

Sounds like the questionaire needs to be tweeked or made more clear.
