hair thursday makeover 39

Lauri’s hair:

Light brown – trying to kick the highlighting habit and get back to her natural color
Normal to dry
Stick straight, baby fine, but lots of it
Prefers length between chin and shoulder and no bangs
Product junkie – Frederic Fekkai, Aveda, Bain de Terre
No layers

From Lauri’s photos, she appears to have a heart-shaped face with a high forehead. In general, a heart-shaped face should steer clear of blunt bangs, super short hair and/or really choppy layers. Subtle layering is really the key for Lauri.

I find it a damn shame that Miss Lauri has no interest in subtle, sideswept bangs because they could really lessen the appearance of height and width in the forehead, plus add some dimension to her hair. Looking at her requests, she prefers the length between chin and shoulder, so I would recommend a chin-length bob for her shortest option, with just the slightest layering in the front like Option #1. That way, the cut won’t look too severe. I also like the idea of a side part.

Now, as much as I would like to stick to Lauri’s wishes, I am going to suggest an option to keep her length and add bangs. VERY SUBTLE ONES. Option #2 would totally complement Lauri’s face shape and hell, I’VE BEEN DEEMED THE HAIR EXPERT, RIGHT? Listen to me!

Plus, look! It’s Babs!

People, people who need…people…

You can barely see those bangs! Notice how the forehead appears minimized, and how Lauri’s perfectly shiny hair would look so lovely in general. Of course, #1 is cute too. Decisions, decisions.

Alright, that is all for now.

Please vote.

This Hair Thursday candidate is ridiculous! She wants her hair btw chin and shoulder and no bangs – GUESS WHAT – IT IS!! What exactly is the “change” this women is looking for – does she want Whoorl to be her sponsor as she attempts to kick the highlighting habit? Whoorl – there MUST be a more “Hair Thursday WORTHY” candidate out there :-(

Ouch! That last comment was harsh!

I could TOTALLY see some Reese Whitherspoon-style bangs on Lauri! How hot would THAT look?

Well, I do see where Jeanmarie is coming from. Moving forward, people with very detailed requests (not much different from their original style) won’t be featured.

That being said, I do think bangs would make all of the difference for Lauri.

Eek – I WAS a little harsh, wasn’t I? I just know that Whoorl has candidates up the wazoo, not much time to do this, and great advice to give to people who are interested in it. I look forward to New Hair every Thursday, and today I felt cheated :-(

Whoorl you ROCK (my distaste was for the candidate, not the blogger), and I look forward to seeing someone with tushy length hair who wants to cut it to their ears and dye it purple next week!

Yes, this is a ridiculous request with so little room for change. And yes, bangs are the way to go; it would be much more flattering. Come on, Lauri, step outside your comfort zone!

Whoorl, please don’t ever post a picture of Barbara Streisand again. I beg you. :)

The Babs look is not bad, but I went with Option #1 because I think the shorter cut will look better on Lauri.

Well, I have to agree with some of the above posters. It doesn’t sound like she wants much of a change. Come on! Let loose! Try something new! It might look great!
I voted for 2 because I do agree subtle bangs would do her good. The current hair is just too severe and I can see the first option leaning the same way if she doesn’t style it like the picture.

    snap jeanmarie! snap.

laurie, i do think bangs would be a good way to do something to your hair while keeping the length.

plus, you know what? bangs grow out!

and i continue to say it, but look at your cheekbones in the second photo! bangs can help highlight those! and that great face shape! you know who has the same face shape? reese! witherspoon! what hair style does she have? BANGS!

Wow, I never thought Babsy would make the Hair Thursday image gallery. Well played, Whoorl…well played.

    EEEK. HARSH!

I can see where these comments are coming from, but I can sort of sympathize with the candidate. She’s just afraid of change, but also wants something different. Haven’t we all been there?

Do it! Cut the bangs! Please? They’re barely bangs, seriously, just think of it as another layer in your layered haircut. I dare you! I double-dare you! I TRIPLE-DOG DARE YOU. It would look really nice, I promise.

(Just be glad I didn’t triple-dog dare you to lick a metal pole in the winter.)

Well, I’m glad someone else said it first (I was having a VERY RARE for me too-polite-to-mention-something moment).

But yeah, she already has the haircut she asked for, plus nice shiny looking pretty hair.

But BANGS. Yes, bangs. Her pretty face is practically BEGGING for them. Otherwise she’s just wasting our perfectly good hair thursday reading.

Well what do you know, my polite thing is done – apologies for that. But SERIOUSLY.

I too was wondering what hairstyle would be an option for her, with her requirements? It seems just a choice between length in inches, with the same cut she has now — no layers, no bangs. How else can you change it? Leave it, cut it mid length, or chin length. Whoorl, what was your reaction to this candidate?

    Hey,

I am all up for bangs and layers…. those were my requirements seven months ago when I applied to whoorl and people can change their minds.. right?

I basically said… this is how I wear it now, I am open to change.. what do you think would look good on me? is this not the whole point of Hair Thursday?
