Three Ways to Wear a Deep Side Part

We’re in the thick of deep side part mania right now, so I figured I would put together a Style United tutorial on the easiest ways to wear one. These three styles build upon each other, so you can wear one or all. The first hairstyle is a modern take on the Veronica Lake look using rollers (I used steam rollers), the second is a quick braid across the front hairline, and the third is a messy side chignon. Hope you like!

Loved these ideas! I especially like the braided bangs, as I am growing mine out currently. Thanks, Sarah!

Marisa, have you tried mousse? Don’t let the whole 80s thing scare you off – it can really help with hold!

Thank you for this video! I recently cut my hair with a side part and long bangs. I took a picture of Eliza Coupe (Jane on Happy Endings) to the stylist and she did a great job. But I had no idea what to do with it except to wear it straight. Most helpful was your pointer on how to find the part from the eyebrow.

Awesome tutorials! Could you tell me more about the steam curlers, though? Are they just the same as the old hot rollers I used in high school? Or is this something new? It didn’t look like they were too hot to handle when you were putting them in, which was always my problem with hot rollers.

I have a really silly question. My hair naturally parts over to the right. I’ve been deep side parting it over to the left to cover up a bit of a balding spot on my temple thanks to pregnancy & child birth.

The issue I’m having is that my hair hurts like a beast. My hair, my scalp, my entire head hurts whenever I part over to the other side. Is this normal?

i love this. for halloween, i dressed ‘mad men’ style, and wore my hair in a deep part (similar to style #1). the next day, we had to get up early and go somewhere so i kept the look (in my hair… and slightly in my make-up that i had not washed off :))… and i felt a little weird since i never wear my hair that way, but also a little glamorous! everyone kept saying how nice i looked that day! it made me want to wear it like that again, but i have yet to do so.

so, i look forward to trying each & every look… and OMG… spin pin?? who knew?? must get some asap. (as i always have to use a gazillion bobby pins to keep my hair in place)
