The birth story is too daunting at this point.

WHOAH.

This parenting gig is exhausting. My baby is a tad confused – sleepy angel by day, grunty scared-of-the-dark vampire by night. I totally blame the NICU.

S.O.S. – I’m so tired.

He never cries, but he loves to stay awake all night and cluster feed. Hence, my boobs are falling off, but for good reason. We had a home-health nurse make a visit to check on the baby’s weight and such. She wanted to make sure he was back to his birth weight at the two-week point.

Ahem. At 12 days old, he weighed in at 7 lbs, 14 ounces. So I guess you could say he gained enough to get back to his 6 pound, 11 ounce birth weight and THEN SOME.

GO (SORE) BOOBIES!

Oh, he’s awake. Gotta run.

As Britney would sing,

I’m a SLAAAAAAAVE to the boob…I cannot hold it; I cannot control it.

I’m a SLAAAAAAAVE to the boob…I won’t deny it; I’m not trying to hide it…

Even through the tiredness and soreness, it sounds like you’re enjoying being a mom. I hope he gets his internal clock fixed soon.

It is great to hear that your little Anders is gaining so well. You’re doing so much hard work, filling him up during those multiple night wakings… we visitors to your site can wait as long as need be to hear the birth story.

Sending lots of encouragement and admiration your way, S (lurker, mom of a 4-month-old, who remembers those early days oh so well!)

Such good news! Maybe this sounds sick and demented, but I really want to hear the boob details when you get the time. Breastfeeding is just so… perplexing. And confusing. And… well, SCARY.

Anders is a beautiful little guy! And so robust! Go you!

Baby #1 was born two years ago, and I still haven’t finished her birth story!!

Baby #2 is one month old, and even the second time around, breastfeeding and newborns are still a day-by-day guessing game.

Keep cluster feeding, he’ll give it up soon!! You’re doing great and I’m so happy to hear (from Elisabeth) that Anders is doing well and he’s healthy. Keep up the good work. He’s a darling one!

It will all sort itself out before you know it…does lanolin help the boobies?

I remember those early days…and am looking forward/dreading the next round in October :)

Ahh, I remember those days well. I do think that my guy made the switch from vampire to sleeping angel within a week or two. I do remember him feeding for an entire night. I finally gave in a used a soother for an hour so my aching boobs got a break. Anders is definately gaining like a big boy, don’t be surprised if he keeps on going. Hopefully he will make the switch for you very soon.

Go Whoorl and Anders for being such a team. That wait gain was fantastic.

I remember very well the good ‘ol milk production days. Boodies = footballs. OUch!

I remember sore boobs too! I had twins and my boobs had to work overtime. Actually saying “sore” boobs is not enough. Its more than that. Like they are falling off already. But they WILL get better.
You have a lovely son! And boys suck harder than girls, thats a fact.

He’s a beautiful little boy and you’ve obviously taken to mothering pretty smoothly. He’s gained over a pound already??? Well, that’s just plain fantastico!

Wow…he is adorable! I am praying for a head of hair for Chloe…I just love it. You look fantastic, BTW. I saw your after belly shot. Let’s hope we are all that lucky. Yikes, so the first few weeks are a doozy hey? I hear there is no way to truly prepare your boobs for the bootcamp they will go through the first 6 weeks. Keep it up, he is growing so big and strong and what a cool feeling to know you are supplying him with all those good things. Hope you get some sleep soon!
