Operation Ring Retrieval – Success!
Obviously, this was the best part of the day. The sun wasn’t so harsh, I had my ring and we could fool around with the metal detector looking for other treasures. Unfortunately, all SAJ found was the nickel I threw in the sand earlier to test the sensitivity of the detector. I secretly wish I wouldn’t have returned Metal Detector 1.0 for future treasure hunts. Oh well…
When I arrived at the beach earlier and spent some time mapping out my plan, Arnie the lifeguard suggested using a colander to help sift through the sand. Luckily, SAJ hadn’t left her house yet, so I called and asked if she would bring a colander.
When she arrived at our spot, I had already found the ring and completed my numerous victory laps around the sand. Did I mention Arnie the lifeguard brought tons of orange cones to block off my Operation Ring Retrieval area? He was the best.
Little did we know that the colanders would be such a hit with the kiddos. Wito was obsessed with red one – he couldn’t get enough of it. These are my favorite photos of the day. Thanks to SAJ for capturing the shots!

Quite the saga! I am so glad you found your treasure and that you’ve got such a great friend to share these adventures with.
PS: The bermudas look great on you. :)

Sam’s favorite toy is a plastic tub from the hospital. If I gave him a colander it would be like CHRISTMAS!

Arnie, what a great guy! Was he cute? Tan? Sorry, just my inner 15 year old coming out.
Now your special ring is even more special. What a day!
GG, he was VERY tan with perfectly white teeth and a great smile. So um, yes, Arnie was very cute. :)

Best toy evah??? An OXO salad spinner. The best wedding present I ever got – boy#2 is happily playing with it constantly. (When boy#1 isn’t taking it from him!)
So glad you found your ring!

Cutest pictures ever of the two of them. I have that red colander, I may just have to pull it out after nap time. I sense tons of entertainment value coming from that thing. Aren’t kitchen gadgets great!

As I was telling my friends(we are old) the beach saga, one remarked that Arnie probably would not have been as attentive to us. Doesn’t hurt to be young and beautiful. Great picks of Wito, Baby Bug, SAJ and you.

I have a crush on Arnie already. And I lovvvvve the photos of BabyBug & Wito. They’re BFFs! So very adorable.
And no less important: thank you, ring, for coming back to my girl. Thank you, sand. Thank you, humanity. Thank you, collanders. Thank you, Arnie with your white teeth and orange cones.

Love the re-enactment photos… they set the stage perfectly. Arnie sounds like a dream.
I just read something today and thought of you and your hatred of all that is SAND: apparently, if you take baby powder with you to the beach, you can use it to help get the sand off when it’s time to go. Right before you leave, you can sprinkle the powder on the sandy areas- legs, arms, feet, wherever— and the sand slides right off.

I have that same colander! Funny.

Oooh baby powder to get off sand. I’m so using that the next time I’m forced to step foot onto a beach.
Yay, for the happy ending (again.) BOOOO that you took the metal detector back. And, where are the pics of Arnie, hunky life guard orange cone man?
I know! I totally needed pics of Arnie, but I didn’t have my camera! And when SAJ showed up, he had already sped off into the sunset in his manly lifeguard truck. *sniff sniff*
