Tell Me About Your Dream Vacation Spot

vacation

You guys, I need a vacation.

Yes, I’ve been traveling a fair amount for conferences/blogging/quick weekends, but I mean A Real Vacation. A No-Plans-Whatsoever, Doing-Absolutely-Nothing, Staring-Off-Into-Space Real Vacation on a beach in a remote location. I just want to be in the sun with nothing to do. (Yes, you could say that the 20+ inches of rain in OKC this May has kind of gotten to me.)

The last true family vacation that involved a plane and a faraway destination was Maui in 2012. Three years is not acceptable, people. Especially considering the past few years have been slightly unnerving. We all need some downtime in the Whoorl household, and I need suggestions for the most relaxing and tranquil spot ever.

Where is your favorite sunny spot for complete relaxation?

    So many beautiful memories…

Tulum beach is wonderful. So many bungalows to choose from – Ana y Jose, Maya Tulum, and more.

Positano, Italy is incredibly special. And the beach clubs are great for families. Here’s a slice of heaven: http://www.elizabethminchilliinrome.com/2012/07/da-ferdinando-positano-beach-food/

Just got back from Turkey, and had a magnificent time on a boat exploring the Turquoise coast. Swam in isolated bays of the bluest sea, next to olive trees and archeological ruins. http://beforelunch.com/index.html

    Enjoy the vacation planning!

Sarah – I agree regarding the Mediterranean. It’s my pick for a without-kids trip. I too spent some magnificent days in Turkey at the sea. I believe Butterfly Valley is the tiny stretch of heaven I’d call my favorite.

not sure where it is, but it includes endless beautiful beaches. small private beaches with luscious tropical flora are a bonus. i want nothing to do, but sit on the beach and live in a bikini.

So…my husband and I just got back from celebrating our 10 year anniversary and the most magical spot, ever. Punta de Mita, Mexico, about 45 minutes north of Puerto Vallarta. Check out Casa de Mita on TripAdvisor…it’s pretty much a private villa with a full staff. 8 rooms total (adults only…) and everything is included. Meals cooked to order from an incredible chef and utter relaxation. Private beach, swim-up bar, beach “beds”, I could go on and on…they even include private airport transfers. It was the most relaxed I’ve EVER been in my life. I wanna go baaaaack!!!

I went to Catalonia on a retreat last year and it was so, so lovely. Fly into Barcelona, drive up the coast along the Mediterranean. We stayed in Platja d’Aro near Girona. Spectacular. And fantastic wine. ;)
