Running Revisited

Remember Whoorl: The Running Blog?

Neither do I!

(This may or may not have stemmed from a recent 2-month sabbatical of sorts. It was just supposed to be a holiday thing, but um, YEAH.)

Regardless, I ended said sabbatical this morning.

It’s been awhile since I spoke of my ongoing quest for running gear and my final verdict, and I have some additions for those who ARE ON THE EDGE OF THEIR SEATS.

Being that it’s in the high 40s during the morning, those Adidas shorts just aren’t hacking it. I had to conduct another highly scientific study (you know, trotting up and down the sidewalk with wine in hand) involving running tights, pants, capris, etc. I’m not really thrilled with running tights…they’re just so tight. On the other hand, the baggy pants interfere with my highly-athletic stride. (HA.)

These pants (actually, capris) from Nike seem to work very well. They are snug through the hips and thigh, but have a little flare at the bottom to keep my legs from looking like stuffed sausages. Plus, my legs stayed warm (but never got hot) and they wicked any sweat right away. Cool beans. Also, I scored a great deal on this jacket (perfect shade of green!) in the clearance section.

Just, you know, keeping you in the loop about my running because you care SO MUCH.

I’m still trying to find The Perfect Sports Bra For Running, though. Any suggestions?

Funny to see you are back at running as I started the couch to 5k last week. I hope to be running the 5K in May at our National Capital Marathon. Thanks for the link.

And sports bras, I have a bunch of them from Reebock, got them at the outlet and these puppies don’t move in them (think nursing Mom here).

I am tired just reading about your running. You have more ambition than I could dream of right now. I am just going to help myself to another brownie.

I have a running blog too! I have 26.2 miles to run in April and I need to be accountable to SOMEONE during my training! Better the entire blogosphere than no one at all.

For gear: I am a HUGE Saucony sneaker fan and a great admirer of all things Lululemon. They are aerodynamic, sweat-wicking, devastatingly flattering and utterly chic.

It helps to look good when you’re hacking up a lung. Distracts the curious onlookers …

The BEST pants in the whole wide world to run in are made by prana. I wear the asana, but the newer elise would do just as well. Here’s the main thing – they don’t chafe. Before my son was born, I used to train and run halfs, so chafe on your inner legs can be bummer. Even now, when I’m only out for a 3 or 4 mile run, I choose these over shorts any day. The fabric is a dream. You can find them at REI or on the website.

    Cheers!

In terms of pants, Puma actually makes a bunch that I adore. As for the sports bra, I have a bunch of different kinds, since wearing the same kind all the time tends to…well, something — mixing it up just feels better somehow.
