Remember Whoorl: The Running Blog?
Neither do I!
(This may or may not have stemmed from a recent 2-month sabbatical of sorts. It was just supposed to be a holiday thing, but um, YEAH.)
Regardless, I ended said sabbatical this morning.
It’s been awhile since I spoke of my ongoing quest for running gear and my final verdict, and I have some additions for those who ARE ON THE EDGE OF THEIR SEATS.
Being that it’s in the high 40s during the morning, those Adidas shorts just aren’t hacking it. I had to conduct another highly scientific study (you know, trotting up and down the sidewalk with wine in hand) involving running tights, pants, capris, etc. I’m not really thrilled with running tights…they’re just so tight. On the other hand, the baggy pants interfere with my highly-athletic stride. (HA.)
These pants (actually, capris) from Nike seem to work very well. They are snug through the hips and thigh, but have a little flare at the bottom to keep my legs from looking like stuffed sausages. Plus, my legs stayed warm (but never got hot) and they wicked any sweat right away. Cool beans. Also, I scored a great deal on this jacket (perfect shade of green!) in the clearance section.
Just, you know, keeping you in the loop about my running because you care SO MUCH.
I’m still trying to find The Perfect Sports Bra For Running, though. Any suggestions?

January 20, 2008 at 7:13 amYES!! I recently found the sports bra of mah DREAMS at Target. (I know! I had tried MUCH more expensive places…)
Here is the link — http://www.target.com/C9-Champion-Seamless-Camisole-Bra/dp/B000V2B2MW/sr=1-18/qid=1200841832/ref=sr_1_18/601-4594834-8527337?ie=UTF8&index=target&rh=k%3Asports%20bra&page=1
It looks unsupportive because of the straps, but works GREAT! It’s also cute. :)
*Disclaimer – I have a small frame, size B boobs, and am 5’1″, so the adjustable straps made ALL the difference in the world for me. Most women probably don’t have the same woes I do. But this bra is freaking fantastic. And only $17. Woah.

January 20, 2008 at 9:23 amEchoing everyone else on Title 9. http://www.titlenine.com/
I’m a horribly floppy D – when I started running again, I order five or six of the four-barbell styles there and kept two: the Three Reasons and the LW Underwire Bra. Before that, I wore two jog bras at a time.
I’m new to your blog, but am kind of psyched to go check out your running posts~ and I have those Nike pants too – love them!

January 20, 2008 at 11:38 amI have to chime in for Title Nine as well. They have a great range of sizes and the barbell ratings are very helpful.

January 20, 2008 at 4:40 pmI somehow got myself talked into running a half marathon in April. I have never really been a runner before. I just started training and I think I might die. I need to sit down and see what your recommendations for running gear are. I have heard horrible stories of toe nails falling off due to wearing the wrong shoes. I also need to find a good sports bra. I am still nursing my baby and let’s just say the ones I used to wear just don’t seem to fit quite right.

January 20, 2008 at 8:45 pmI have those pants and I looooove them. Also, they were $12 at the Rack which makes me love them more. My sports bras are all Victoria’s Secret. I’m a 34 C and they’re perfect.

January 21, 2008 at 9:47 amI love those pants. Perfect. As for a great running bra… I’m pretty busty and love GapBody’s sports bra – but I’m not sure I’d say it’s the perfect sports bra for running. It sure does keep the ladies in place though.

January 21, 2008 at 1:14 pmI’m not sure why this post is the one that I’m finally choosing to de-lurk on, but here I am! I happened on your blog linked from a friend of a friend of a friend of a friend (ah the miracle of the internet) and in fear of sounding like a stalker, I love it! I could gush, but won’t. Anyway, sports bras – I found mine at Target: http://www.target.com/C9-Champion-Seamless-Cami-Bra/dp/B000RTP392/sr=1-15/qid=1200949838/ref=sr_1_15/601-8709437-3684932?ie=UTF8&index=target&rh=k%3Asports%20bra&page=1
and I love it! I, however, am 5’8″ with barely a B cup (nursing two kids did that to me). I also just got back into running myself with the Couch to 5K running plan – was it here that I read about that? ah, anyway, thank you for all of your wonderful posts!

January 21, 2008 at 3:11 pmI don’t know if you have Berlei in the States, but they make the best sports bras in the world. They strap you in (regardless of how big or small you are) and nothing moves! Well, nearly nothing anyway.

January 22, 2008 at 7:39 amThis is why I run on my treadmill…so I can hold my boobs while I run.
Right now I’m suffering from plantar fasciitis, so my boobs are getting a break from slapping me in the face.

January 22, 2008 at 9:17 amAdd me to the list of small boobs! I was just on lulumon the other day and they looked liked they had a good selection. I usually wear a running tank with the bra in it.
These comments are cracking me up!

January 22, 2008 at 9:21 amohhh and I wanted to ask an odd question well not that odd I guess… What do you do with your bangs when you run?? Any one feel free to chime in too. I had bangs last summer when I was running and the were a big PITA! I am getting a cut tomorrow and wanted to get some sideswept bangs then remember I would be starting to run again in a few months so not sure now. Anyhoo just curious?
I wear a baseball cap when I run- keeps my bangs back and the sun out of my eyes.
