I live in an area where people could care less about collegiate sports, which is a tad frustrating for a die hard like me. Why, just over the past couple of days, several people have asked if some sort of “basketball tournament thingy” was going on.
Seriously, people? YOU KILL ME.
Whatever. People have different interests, hobbies, blahdeedah.
However, if you aren’t even remotely enthused by this unbelievable last-second shot (which led to overtime), well, you just don’t have a soul.
Congratulations to my alma mater, the University of Kansas, winners of the 2008 NCAA Basketball Championship.
(Mario, call me.)
Wait! I hear you grumbling…some of you STILL don’t care. Fine. Try to deny this cuteness.

April 8, 2008 at 10:06 amDude. I almost emailed you last night because I COULD. NOT. BELIEVE that shot. I told Dave I knew you had to be freaking out!!!
Also, did you see the shot of Roy W. wearing the KU sweater?

April 8, 2008 at 10:08 amIf I see you at Wahoo’s, I’m gonna dump your fish enchilada on top of your head. WE WERE ROBBED!

April 8, 2008 at 10:18 amThe game was amazing!! Chamblers (or whatever because I can’t spell, or be arsed to google, XD) and his game tying 3-pointer was AMAZING!!!
And to think, I was only rooting for KU in the NC game because of Mr. Fall On His Butt/Face and then I was rooting for them because they’re great. It’s awesome to see a team that played as a team win, unlike Memphis, who seemed more concerned with their individual statistics.

April 8, 2008 at 10:54 amI’m living in Lawrence and let me tell you…no one got a wink of sleep last night. Not even the kiddos. We are all still in our jammies around here!
Rock Chalk Jay Hawk! Go KU!

April 8, 2008 at 11:00 amI GET YOU. For me it’s college football, but no one around here is half as passionate about it as Southerners.
Bah.
Also, I hate basketball because of the squeaking, but I still feel you on the win. That’s awesome, and you should lord it over whoever you can.

April 8, 2008 at 11:01 amCongrats!
I’m not a huge basketball fan, but if it had been Texas A&M (my alma mater) in that game, I would have been as ridiculously near a heart attack as I imagine you were.

April 8, 2008 at 11:07 amis it a little weird that you were the first person i thought of when i saw that kansas won? i mean, since i only know you through reading your blog it seems a little strange to me, but i feel a kinship with you over the college sports thing even though my sport is football (i’m a buckeye). and i have been in europe and not able to watch any of the tournament (which is killing me a little inside)!
So anyway, congrats, and btw, i know all kinds of little facts now about the rock chalk jayhawk thing because my husband and i just looked it up on wikipedia. very interesting!

April 8, 2008 at 11:36 amDude, I’m from Louisville and a huge b-ball fan (Go Cards!) and so it is that I hate Memphis with the white hot passion of a million blazing suns. I’m beyond thrilled that KU beat them in such spectacular and dramatic (daggers! in! the heart! ha!) fashion. So, thank you for that! Still wish I knew what “Rock Chalk” meant, though. OH, and to the gal who said “SuperNintendo Chalmers?” Girl done made me pee my pants.
Wito is an adorable genius. His “Beak ’em!” reminds me of my son’s “Dunk it!” Because, well, he also is an adorable genius.
Congrats Jayhawk peeps!

April 8, 2008 at 12:08 pmas a fellow jayhawk alumni I was AMAZED at last nights game, 3pt shot with 2.1 seconds on the clock??? I’m a little sad that it wasn’t Roy (he left the year after I graduated, so I kind had a sentimentality for him) who took them there and even more sad that I was not with the crowds on mass last night.
Did you hear they canceled classes too!

April 8, 2008 at 2:19 pmI love college sports even though I went to a crappy college sports school (Baylor). I did, however, go to a wonderful college sports law school (University of Texas). But I always feel like a poser wearing UT garb. Nonetheless, you can’t beat the excitement of college sports. Long live the Big XII conference!

April 8, 2008 at 2:41 pmWatching that game last night took 5 years off of my life. What a game! I am an alum, and my little bro and sis are there right now- they partied hard on Mass St. last night!
