Questions

1. I’m starting a Blunt Bangs Brigade. (That sounds a little porny, doesn’t it?) I’m inducting Metalia and Kristen as my first two members. Against their will, most likely.

blba

Wanna join? You need to have blunt bangs and a missing body.

2. I have a cold. I caught it from Wito, who caught it at a children’s museum. See what you get for trying to educate your children in a fun, hands-on environment? I’m sorry, but next week it’s Goldfish crackers and Chutes and Ladders in our germ-free living room, kid. Mama’s a little bitter.

3. Remember when y’all suggested the Sookie Stackhouse series to me? I read a few, but was feeling a little neutral. Well, I just started watching True Blood last night. (We don’t have HBO, so I’m watching the episdoes online. I CAN’T STOP. I’m staying up past my bedtime (10 p.m – shut up), already dreaming about vampires and I’m only through Season 1, Episode 3.)

(Sooookie.)

4. I would like to retract my previous statement that my favorite Jelly Belly flavor is Green Apple. Please excuse me, I was misinformed. My favorite flavor is Sour Cherry. What’s your favorite flavor again? Are you in that crazy Juicy Pear majority?

5. I need a good book to read, and no, I don’t want to visit Goodreads. (Nothing against Goodreads, I’m just WAY too lazy to weed through all of the suggestions. In fact, if I possessed an iota of intelligence, I would re-read the other suggestions from the above post, but, well, I’m sick.) You know what I like, right? Please tell me what to read. Did I mention I was sick? Have mercy.

6. I will gladly accept any book suggestions except for any of the Backyardigans books, especially Mission to Mars and Pirate Treasure. WE HAVE THOSE COVERED OVER HERE, THANK YOU.

7. My second post about potty training is up. Can any of you relate to this biznass?

7. Could my son’s haircut tomorrow afternoon arrive any sooner?

hair

Well, would you look at that? Reading Mission to Mars AGAIN.

Please feel free to answer one, many or absolutely none of these questions.

    One more thing–about potty training:
My son stands up and pees. It seems much easier for him. Have you tried that? At first, he just held the little potty insert from a kiddie potty in front of himself and peed into it. He could SEE the pee and it was fun for him. Now he pees standing up on a little stool and I can also hold him so he’s just hovering over gross public potties too.

On that potty training thing…..try having Wito “train” his favorite animal/doll/whatever to go pee-pee on the potty. He can give the doll stickers, etc. It’s the only thing that worked for C-Man and it worked right away!

Oooh, the Bangs Brigade totally needs some sparkly t-shirts, and maybe a mascot.

My bangs are definitely less “blunt” and more “stubborn,” but I’m learning to pseudo-love them.

And I must herein admit to feeling a little sad that you aren’t a fan of Goodreads, if only because that site helps me keep my wits about me with regard to which books I’ve read, and which I want to read, and which I absolutely refuse to. The interface is super easy and clean, the review system is pretty stellar (especially because I love having my friends review books I’ve read or want to read), and do I sound like I’m being paid by Goodreads to pimp them out? Haaa. (Are you listening, Goodreads?)

No, but seriously, where I can I sign up for a job that pays me to write book reviews? (I think that’s called In Your Dreams, Kerri.)

I’m obsessed with Jhumpa Lahiri and Junot Diaz right now—both have full-length novels (Lahiri wrote The Namesake, and Diaz The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao) but I really enjoy their short stories (Unaccustomed Earth, Interpreter of Maladies by Lahiri and Drown by Diaz) because I have a short attention span. Both are great writers. I’d also recommend Loving Frank, by Nancy Horan.

The bangs look darling, by the way! xo

I loved Pillars of the Earth and World Without End.

But if I was sick, I’d read any of Jen Lancaster’s books. They have me rolling with laughter – so maybe one of those would make you feel better?

I’m actually jealous that you haven’t watched all of True Blood yet. I’m going to die waiting for Season 3!

I just finished Valley of The Dolls by Jacqueline Susann and I was seriously upset when I finished it; it is SUCH a great read, totally recommend.

Sorry about the cold! Hope you are feeling better soon.

My boys got the training from Hubs–that seemed to work more than listening to me.

I recommend anything by Kate Atkinson, especially:
Behind the Scenes at the Museum
    One Good Turn
When Will There Be Good News?

    She is a genius.

The Help, by Kathryn Stockett is the best book I have read in years. Currently reading Pat Conroy’s South of Broad. As a former Virginian, I love writers whose words read like Shelby Foote sounds in Ken Burns’ Civil War. As for potty training, lord help me I have a stubborn boy too and no amount of bribery, cajoling, laissez faire etc. is working. And I so want to put him in Hanna Anderrson boxer briefs. I too have given in and bought pull ups, but he asks for diapers.
