Palm Springs Forever (Unless it’s 112 degrees. I’m out.)

This happens to me every summer. The family trips, the barbecues, the long days by the pool…blogging? What’s blogging? I don’t need a blog! I can just plant a garden, grow some tomatoes, and perfect my pasta sauce! Or play tennis with the kids! Or make homemade popsicles! Or read a book in the shade while the kids nap….but sitting at my desk and typing on my laptop? Nope. Not so much right now. (Although, I’ll be back tomorrow kicked into medium high gear, I swear. We need to talk about shopping.)

Palm Springs was a blast. We had some friends stay with us for the first few days, and it was the perfect Fourth of July. We had intended to come back home on Friday, but decided to stay a little longer until D’s job came a callin’ this morning. Womp womp woooomp. Blogs..jobs…who needs ’em? We can live off the land, people! In teepees! JOIN ME.

I did learn one thing about Palm Springs this time around, though. 100 degrees is easy. I can do 100 degrees, no problemo. Just give me a margarita and a pool float and I’m good. However, 112 degrees? The pool ain’t cutting it anymore, and mama needs to get back to the beach pronto. (Luckily, it didn’t hit 112 until yesterday…just in time for us to leave!)

All in all, a damn good time. What excursions are you taking this summer? More importantly, who wants to join my teepee cult?

Hi Sarah! I looooove your blog! What camera do you use to take your pictures and what setting do you put them on? I love the color of the photos!

Thanks, Aimee! All of the photos were taken with an iPhone and I use Instagram for the filters.

I hear ya, mama! I love, love, love Palm Springs…until. And playing hooky has become my motto for the summer of 2012. Teepees and hooky — we should start a new blog ;)

Sounds dreamy…even 112 degrees by the pool doesn’t sound that awful compared to where I currently am (in an office hi-rise under fluorescent lights – blergh). Any recommendations you have on good places to stay in Palm Springs/Palm Desert area? I’m always torn between renting a house with a pool for a few days or going for one of the bigger resorts with all the amenities and water slide for the kiddos.

I don’t have any good info about rentals – we stay at a family home while we’re there. However, if you are looking for a big, kid-friendly resort, you can’t go wrong with the three big ones in Indian Wells (Hyatt Champions, JW Marriott, Renaissance Esmeralda). Personally, I love the Ace Hotel and Swim Club.

I experienced that same god-awful heat on Friday and Saturday. My parents just bought a house there. I was that idiot who was cleaning and organizing in the 112 degree heat.

That heat is even worse than Oklahoma! I’m heading to Palm Springs and The Ace Hotel in October for Shutter Sisters Oasis! I’m so freaking excited. I’ve spent time in Laguna Beach, but have never been to Palm Springs.

Laguna and Palm Springs are like two completely different worlds. You will LOVE the Ace. One of my very favorites!

    Great photos of the family.

I love the heat but 112 is a bit much. So far, my summer trips have taken me to NYC (with my daughter) and Alaska with my wife (via Celebrity cruise). Next up is Park City for a week in September.
