Painting with Picasso

I am anxiously awaiting the day when I can write about my life like the good ol’ days. Remember those posts? Yeah, that was nice.

However, I’m not quite there yet. In the meantime, let me introduce you to Whoorlito, Child of the Steel Trap Memory.

A couple of notes:

1. This video was filmed in January when Wito was 29 months old. Forgive me, as I’m obviously grasping for blog material.

2. This video is also a reminder that I was a complete ass for cutting his hair off last month. Give me that precious hair back!

3. Wito memorizes books after reading them for one day. It’s uncanny and blows my mind.

4. It also makes me feel rather stupid.

5. I’ve included the words from the book so you can follow along at your pleasure. Enjoy.

an artist paints people in all different places
and captures the feelings that show in their faces
a young girl catches a dove in flight
she’ll keep him safe and hold him tight
a serious boy steers a donkey around
this sad boy is dressed like a happy clown
an acrobat balances a ball, while a strongman wonders if she’ll fall
another man’s limbs are in a tangle, with arms and legs at the oddest angle
a woman rests during a dreamy nap
a mother plays a with a babe in her lap
with eyes looking sideways a nails painted red, this woman is telling a joke in her head
and here is the artist who’s captured it all – the faces, the places, the girl on the ball.
with each stroke of his brush, each color and line, he paints a picture of a moment in time.

Your kid, is seriously super duper smart. I was just watching the spelling vid you have, and my mouth dropped and I grabbed my fiance and showed him. Hes like a wiz kid! How are you teaching him, do you spend a long time doing these things, and do you provide visuals? Seems like your doing an amazing job!!

Thank you. I have to say, he leads the way. We have always read a lot of books to him because that is what he loves when given a choice of activities, but otherwise, he consistently surprises us with his intelligence.

I definitely try to help foster his strengths, but I think we are just along for the ride. :)

Your kid is amazing, and I like his hair like it is in the video. He surely inherited your awesome hair genes.

Someone recently commented on missing your old blogging ways and I have to agree. I got hooked on your site because your life was fun and quirky-but real too. It seems like you spread yourself pretty thin and I hope you can just blog about your life and not what you think people want to hear. Your archives might inspire you. They are addicting!! Good luck, and I hope you don’t find this intrusive or offensive.(maybe this crappy weather is contributing to your funk–I can’t wait for the Cali weather to improve)

I don’t find this intrusive or offensive at all, and thank you for the compliment!

It’s just important for people to realize that I have always chosen to keep the majority of my personal life private. My primary focus is my family and when my family needs all of my attention, this blog is going to suffer. I can only hope that readers understand that my life isn’t always “fun and quirky”, and that sometimes I need to focus on what really matters. Which is not this blog. (Hi! I’m Debbie Downer! Nice to meet you!)

He’s a genius for sure. Emily is also about the books. Could you imagine if they married? The grandkids would BLOW OUR MINDS.
