Odds and Ends

soul1

I absolutely can’t believe that we are leaving California and moving to Oklahoma two weeks from today. It’s like I’m walking around in a dream – I can’t process it at all, but I do know it’s the right thing to do. We close on the sale of our house today, and it’s definitely bittersweet. I am feeling ALL OF THE FEELINGS right now. I’m trying to keep my stress levels manageable- and speaking of, I’m going to be speaking on mindfulness, meditation, and some of my favorite techniques at Blogher next week. More details to come, but I would love to see you there. Are you going?

Without further ado, here are some odds and ends for the week.

1. I’ve been doing infrared saunas 4-5/week. That’s a lot of sweating, and I’ve been concerned about electrolyte loss. Coconut water to the rescue – here is a great post on making sure you are buying the healthiest brands out there.

2. Love these vintages images of motherhood.

3. One of the (unhealthy) ways I distract myself from stress is shopping. I know, I know, it’s not very spiritual, but hey, I’m just trying to get through the day right now. Needless to say, NORDSTROM ANNIVERSARY SALE STARTS TODAY.

4. What is this hole? What does it all mean, people?

5. Great before/afters of homes.

6. The psychology of color. Very cool.

Okay, happy weekend, everyone! Remember to take deep breaths. At least that’s what I’ll be doing.

Are you going to tell us more about the decision to move? I’m still shocked you’d leave your beautiful home and Newport, in general!

I’d also love to hear more about the decision to move! It seems like you don’t write about your family as much anymore and that bums me out.

It’s not much, but I’m wishing a lot of calm moments for you during your move. (While I feel slightly weird wishing well a blogger I’ve never met, I’m kind of a firm believer in the power of kind words from strangers.)

    So! Calmness be yours! xo

Since Blogher is in my backyard this year I’ll be going. Have yet to check out the line up, but I’m happy to hear you’ll be talking on mindfulness. I’ll absolutely be in the audience and would love to meet you. (By the way, we have some mutual friends in Brian and Danielle Barber.) I’m sure they are thrilled to have you guys back in OKC! Hang in there and try to enjoy the ride. :)

I’ve been really loving coconut water this summer so thanks for the link regarding coconut water.

I will be at BlogHer next week. I’d love to sit in on your session but can’t find any info on it! Lord knows I need more meditation in my days.

Best wishes on the move! A data point: I moved back to Oklahoma in 2007 and it was the best decision. My parents see my son a couple times a week and it is delightful to watch their relationship develop. Safe travels and welcome back!

Moving is hard-stressful and awful. We do it every 3-4 years so I get it. Hang in there and take care of yourself. Before you know it, your new home will feel right!
