Seriously, what is going on in Hollywood? Has every celebrity suddenly decided that they’re bored with their signature look? Yesterday, Justin Bieber shed his signature hairstyle, and this morning, our friends at Lock & Mane sent us word that Jennifer Aniston had shed her long, blonde locks. According to Lock & Mane, “Aniston debuted a choppy long bob at the Madrid premiere of her latest flick, Just Go With It.”
Aniston hasn’t been shy about her hatred of the hairstyle that made her famous—The Rachel—even though millions of American women rushed to the salon to copy her signature Friends ‘do. Even after she grew out The Rachel, Jennifer Aniston didn’t stray much from long, blonde layers (although there was that brief flirtation with bangs in the early 2000’s) in more of an ashen palette.
Her loyalty to one hairstyle is why the debut of this honey-blonde long bob is such a surprise. Lock & Mane notes that it looks similar to the bob she had during the final season of Friends, although that hairstyle was a bit shorter and more rounded to frame her face. The 2011 J-Aniston bob is longer, more yellow and wispier.
Try on Jennifer Aniston’s new hairstyle in the Makeover Studio!
(My two cents? Although the long hair was her signature look, Jennifer needed a CHANGE. Bravo! What do you think, though?)
UPDATE: I think the lighting in the above photo makes her hair look much brassier than it actually is. Here’s a more realistic shot.

February 23, 2011 at 9:33 amI think it is flattering for her. Personally I thought the beachy waves made her look too much like she was trying hard to look younger.

February 23, 2011 at 9:46 amSo much better. I feel like her other look was SO dated and boring. This is much more modern and “age appropriate”

February 23, 2011 at 9:48 amI like it, but then again I was a fan of her first bob. not “the rachel” but the last season of friends bob. the color however, not loving it. it looks a little too yellow, bordering on brassy. could just be photographing that way, though.

February 23, 2011 at 10:41 amPerhaps a different color? It feels reminiscent of Faith Hill when she went long and flowy to a harsh platinum bob. They both seemed more approachable with their softer hair color. OR Maybe…. That is precisely what they are going for – the Look of Unapproachability. Thumbs down.

February 23, 2011 at 10:49 amAhem. I believe I alerted you on Twitter to this news! :)
It’s wayyyy too bright. It looks like she has the goldie light filter/screen on her — maybe she did?

February 23, 2011 at 11:06 amI like the cut, but I agree with Bethany—hopefully it’s just the picture, but I’m not loving the color. Too harsh.

February 23, 2011 at 12:06 pmI sort of wish she would just make a HUGE change… even a bob isn’t drastic for her. She kind of always looks the same, regardless of cut or color. Not sure what would impress me, but maybe brunette for a little while? Would be gorgeous with her eyes.

February 23, 2011 at 2:05 pmNot that I was a huge fan of “the rachel” ‘do, but I did love the volume and how it seemed so effortless! The new look is wonderful and exactly what she needed.

February 23, 2011 at 2:21 pmHere’s another look at it — it doesn’t look as yellow here, but still plenty blonde.

February 23, 2011 at 3:28 pmYeah, it looks way better on ^ Heather’s link. This picture is pretty yellow and I’m not a fan, but on the video, it looks great.

February 23, 2011 at 7:45 pmUm, who cut her hair off first and changed her look? You, Whoorl! Aniston is obvs copying your move, you trend-setter you!

February 23, 2011 at 11:09 pmShe needed the change for sure, and I think the cut is current and cute and right in time for it to start warming up… Which is approximately when we all want to cut our hair off… but it will grow out right when it starts to get cold again in six months or so… However, I don’t like the color on her! She was better off in the ash tones. I love the honey tone by its self but on her I feel like it brings out an unflattering red in her skin!

February 23, 2011 at 11:15 pmThe color looks MUCH better int he posted video! Maybe it’s not as honey colored as it looks in this specific pic?

February 24, 2011 at 12:18 pmI love it, but then again I just cut my long layers into a bob. Welcome to the club, Jennifer!
