Inspiration for Tomorrow’s Salon Visit!

After much hemming and hawing, I think it’s time to take some length off. The collarbone-length cuts are jumping out at me, although with my chin-length bangs, the look wouldn’t be as uniform as some of these photos. Excited to take some of the weight off, though!

Feel free to throw any other ideas into the ring! My appointment is tomorrow evening!

I have the SAME flip-up problem when my hair is just at the tops of my shoulders, and I absolutely HATE it. Every time I go for a haircut I explicitly tell them that my hair better not be flipping up at the ends when they’re done. (Inevitably, I get ignored 66.7% of the time. I’ve remedied that by not getting my hair cut as much anymore)
My solution has been to either keep it above shoulders, or now that it’s finally growing, make sure it’s at least past the tops of my shoulders.
Good luck! You will be gorgeous no matter what! :)

@Katrina – OMG, I love Marion Cotillard’s bob. I had never seem those photos before! Be sure and send before/after photos of your hair and I’ll post them here!

@Sarah – Agreed on all fronts. The Helena (or whoever) photo isn’t my favorite, but I put it there because I feel like that’s the reality of my long bangs right now. I’m excited for Tera to do her thing, though. She is a WHIZ with texturizing, and may be able to really blend my longer bangs so I can achieve the Anne Hathaway looks.

Um, that Anne Hathaway cut is MY DREAM. In fact, I just got my hair cut last Saturday and I wish I had that photo to show her. My hair is super duper thick for a (not really natural anymore) blonde, and I had my stylist texturize it but it STILL needs more! Would it be a bad idea to buy a pair of texturizing shears and do it myself?

    (Wait, don’t answer that.)

Anyway, I am struggling a bit with my length right now. I got a good two inches cut off, and it’s now about an inch below my shoulders. I forgot that I don’t really like that length because a) it hits the shoulders oddly, and b) my hair poofs somewhat, especially when clean! I have to flat-iron and apply massive amounts of product.

GAH. Sorry for the lengthy novel in here, but apparently I needed to vent about my hair… :)

ps, WE NEED TO GET TOGETHER.

Hah! Great minds think alike. This is the month of cutting off long manes!

Katrina (thank you!) already posted my first Hair Desire post w/ the Marion Cotillard, but just last week I posted my obsession with Anne Hathaway’s bob (and Shirley Manson): http://www.everydaytreats.com/2010/12/hair-desire-continues.html

I think you and I have similar hair (except yours will hold a curl!) but in my experience shoulder grazing bobs tend to drive me nuts when they go into my shirt. This month I’m going to go just a bit shorter to see what happens. (I always chicken out and go shoulder-length, but I want to donate my hair this time).

In any case, I can’t wait to see what you do! You’ll look gorgeous!

Who is that on the bottom left? I love that one but they all look great, can’t wait to see what you decide.

I’m in a similar situation. Four months post-partum and my hair is falling out like crazy and no time to take care of it. Really need a cut.

My stylist always told me to put my thumb over the face and look at the hair. It works, many times I was loving the overall look.

@Kelly – It is Olivia Palermo. I also posted about her here:

I love the top right!! The swoop gives it something a little special that keeps it from looking soccarmomish.

NOOOOOOOO!!! Don’t do it! You have the most beautiful, long hair! I envy it SO much!!! I recently cut 3 inches off of my very long hair and nearly had a nervous breakdown!

I desperately want a new ‘do, too. But what to do? I’m itching for something completely different and I’m very tired of the side part. Anyway, thanks for posting the pictures of what you’re thinking of. I think they look great!

I am loving the top right corner one. There’s something softer about it that I really like, and it seems like that would be a good match given what you have shown us of your hair (that everyone envies so much). I have hair about the length of the bottom right, and while I don’t have the Liz Lemon problem, I do have the Debra Winger problem. Every morning I wake up and Debra Winger wakes up with me until I tame her with my CHI. I digress…

I think the bottom two look a little more trendy and the upper right one looks a little more classic. Interested to see what you decide!
