If you follow on Instagram, you may have noticed that an old, familiar friend from college reentered my life a few months back. (Except this time I’m not wearing said friend with marbled wool socks and J. Crew rollneck sweaters while listening to Phish.) I think my Instagram comment says it best:
So here’s the thing about Birkenstocks. You buy a pair, promising yourself you won’t wear them all the time, except that they actually make your old lady back feel much better, and thus you become the chick who always wears Birkenstocks.
Yep, that’s me. The chick who wears Birkenstocks.
But, COME ON. They are pretty dang cute, right? And if you haven’t noticed, Birkenstocks are making a huge comeback right now. (Don’t just take my word for it!)
Forget the cuteness factor for a bit, and let’s talk comfort. My sore, old lady back feels 100 times better when I wear these shoes regularly, and I’m not remotely kidding. I LOVE MY BIRKENSTOCKS AND WILL SHOUT IT FROM THE ROOFTOPS.
It’s summer, you guys. Get a pair. Make it happen. Your feet and back will thank you tremendously. They come in about one trillion colors, so you’ll be sure to find a good match. (I personally have the black and stone. Because one pair just isn’t enough, people. You gotta trust me on this one.)

June 17, 2014 at 6:27 amI told myself after high shool I would never wear them again. It took 15 yrs but all of a sudden I have three pair. In their defense they have made some really nice styles since then. I love them for to and from yoga

June 17, 2014 at 6:31 amI just bought my first pair 2 weeks ago after not wearing them since college. And I love them. I have the Black Patent with the pink sole. So cute and mostly they are so comfortable.

June 17, 2014 at 6:33 amYep. Bought the Mayari sandal saying I’d only wear them around the house. Every.Day. They’re on my feet, out in public, out to dinner, everywhere. And a pair of Gizeh’s are on their way. Because one pair just isn’t enough. :)

June 17, 2014 at 7:20 amI never saw myself in Birkenstocks, but they really are pretty cute these days. I jumped on the bandwagon and recently bought the same pair you have on in this photo in bronze. They took a couple wears to break them in and now…they’re awesome.

June 17, 2014 at 8:17 amI had Birkenstocks for as long as I can remember. In Germany, there are still – by some – considered mostly “house shoes”, but with all the new colors and styles, they quickly become favorites for everyday wear!

June 17, 2014 at 8:59 amI love my Birkenstocks! I have a pair of the Mayari and I get so many compliments. I also consider them to be the ultimate in Pregnancy footwear- so supportive. Now you have me itching to get another pair.

June 17, 2014 at 9:22 amI’M SO GLAD! I always thought they were so comfy and was totally bummed when I got picked on, lol. Good thing I’m now a proud hippie. Time to buy new ones!

June 17, 2014 at 9:40 amI have two pairs of Gizeh and love them dearly! I hadn’t worn them since high school but I’m so glad I bought a pair again a few years ago.

June 17, 2014 at 11:19 amSing it!!! I’ve got a few pair as well, though the ones like you have on tend to hurt between my toes. I think I need to add some foam or something to the plastic. But, the others, love them all! I first got them when standing on the tile in the kitchen for too long was hurting my back. They are great for high arches and achy backs.

June 17, 2014 at 11:23 amPREACH!
I have a pair of metallic (copper?) Gizeh’s and my husband has the classic style. Is it dorky that we basically always wear them? Who cares!

June 17, 2014 at 11:50 amI’ve had 2 pairs of Gizehs for years, and they are awesome. Silver and shiny red. So cute and comfy! Just always feel bad when I get caught in the rain with them.

June 17, 2014 at 1:07 pmSince college, I used to wear mine only occasionally, but a couple years ago when I was pregnant, they became the only shoes that were comfortable. I have since replaced nearly all my shoes with Birkenstocks or their offshoot brands like Footprints. Seriously, ALL my shoes. Nothing works for my arthritic foot.

June 17, 2014 at 5:44 pmI wore birks as a child as my parents were total hippies. I swore I would never wear them as an adult but my mom convinced me to try some on a few weeks ago. Now I am a daily wearer. The soft soles, ahhhhh!
