Sequins

Sequins are everywhere this season. EVERYWHERE. And I’m eating it up, y’all. Unfortunately, most of the sequin garments I’ve been coveting are in the $150 to $400 range, and considering sequins are really not much of an everyday clothing embellishment, I can’t justify spending that much.

Imagine my delight when I saw this little sequin number on Gap’s website for $49.50! Knowing I had a cocktail party on the horizon, I snatched it up.

Here I am boozed up and leaving a party wearing said skirt. (Actually, I only had two drinks because I knew Wita’s 5:00am wakeup call would be brutal. Guess what? It was still brutal! I should have gotten tanked! Lesson learned, folks.)

Blouse: Isabel Lu
Skirt: Gap
Tights: Spanx, yo! Lest we forget I RECENTLY BIRTHED A BABY.
Heels: Jessica Simpson

And here I am when I suddenly heard Michael Jackson’s Don’t Stop Till You Get Enough coming from the dance floor inside. Is there a BETTER song for shaking your tail feather??? I THINK NOT.

Annnnd then another couple walked out the front door and witnessed D taking my photo while I danced around the porch.

Awkward.

I thought about buying that skirt this weekend. Online review said it was ‘boxy’ and ‘not enough sequins’…what did you think? Looks good in the pictures.

    Danielle,

Not enough sequins? Huh? IT’S COVERED IN SEQUINS. ;) I don’t think it’s boxy – it sits high on the waist and isn’t skin tight. The skirt looks great on small waists, but if you are the type that likes to wear a waistband low on the hips, it’s not for you.

I am totally on board with sequins this fall/winter. A warning – do not visit jcrew.com. ;) I usually am not a huge jcrew fan but they have sequins galore and I cannot help myself. Turns out, I love sparkly!!

Mel, I actually bought this skirt in Oyster from J. Crew, but ultimately didn’t like the gathered waist. You’re right, though. Lots of darling sequin items there!

I love that skirt! I wish I could pull it off, you look fantastic!! My husband is a photographer and takes A LOT of photos of me posing around, but I always get red cheeks when people start watching or notice. Much like your porch dancing photo taking moment.

Love that outfit! And the whole dancing-on-the-porch-and-then-someone-sees-me fiasco seems to happen to me on a pretty regular basis. You are not alone.

Sarah – great outfit. I love the Isabel Lu top. Those buttons are dreamy. Darnit, now I can’t stop thinking about it and want one for myself, in every color.
