Green

Take a look around your room. Peek in your closet. Does a certain color rule the roost? Green has long been my favorite color, but I’ve definitely noticed a trend over the past decade. Most of my big ticket, beads-of-sweat-forming-on-the-brow-as-I-pull-out-my-wallet purchases have been in the bright grassy green shade that I love so much. Color trends may come and go, but I know many of these items will be with me for the long haul. Nothing makes me happier than a pop of bright green to liven up an outfit or a living space.

Do you have a favorite color when it comes to your home, clothing, and/or accessories? Is it the same color across the board or do you like different colors for different facets of your lifestyle? I love orange, bright yellow, and green for home accents and accessories, but find myself gravitating towards rosy pink, navy, and muted neutrals for clothing. What say you? I neeeeeed to know!

I know it’s often considered deeply uncool, but I’m obsessed with pink. It’s all over my personal effects (makeup bags, bathrobe, things like that), but I don’t decorate in it (except a few pink accents in my bedroom). My favorite decorating color is red. LOOOVE red! My wardrobe has a pretty good balance colors – except brown. I own nothing in brown.

It is so funny that you posted this, as I was looking in my closet this morning, and thought it looked a little “Elle Woods” in there (God, that woman wears a lot of pink.) For my house, definitely blue. Navy prevails in both arenas.

My basic home colors are warm golds (ivories and yellows too) mixed with barn red and touches of sage green – but many of my accessories are red. Red Pottery Barn weathered stools, throw pillows that are mostly red, a cool old red painted antique chair with lots of the paint chipped, a red antique fireman’s call box that hangs on the wall as art, a faded red vintage trunk with cool brass corners and leather straps, a 1950’s pristine condition Tonka fire truck and my favorite red item of all…my perfect shade of (not too orange/not too blue) red front door on my coffee with cream colored house with slightly off white trim. I made that decision 10+ years ago and get compliments on our door all the time…oh and I also have a big red Ford 4×4 pick-up truck. Yeah, I guess I like red accents.

I love all the “greenery”! I want your purse, by the way. It’s upsetting how much I love it.

As for my color palette…for some reason, I tend to lean towards the teals and the pale green colors. I keep wanting to add more bright colors to the duplex (poppy, coral, orange). Although the wee one won’t have a nursery, I’m hoping to decorate her corner of our bedroom with those colors to brighten it up a bit.

Everything I own (and every paint color in my house) is either periwinkle, pink, or purple. I love cool-toned colors.

I’m a pink girl through and through…(although now that my 3 yr old will wear nothing else it’s losing a little of it’s appeal)
Did you see this green eye candy: http://fromme-toyou.tumblr.com/post/6383505764/beautiful-decor

Red – it’s always been red. My car is red, I decorate with red accents for a pop of color in my very neutral house, and most of my closet is red. Don’t ask about that one time I got married…wow, red overload.

Mine is orange. Here is a picture someone took of me at a blogging thing, right after they laughed at me for taking out my orange phone from my orange purse while wearing an orange shawl.

you know…thinking back, didn’t we meet over my obsession with your bag ;-)
