Figuring Things Out

Let’s pretend you are a therapist. I’m sitting down on the couch now.

I’m toying with the idea of consolidating back to one blog. Freelance work is hopping, the kiddos’ activities are increasing every month, and I just feel like running both Whoorl and Hair Thursday is too much. I’d love to be able to focus all of my efforts on one blog, you know?

Plus, writing about hair on an almost DAILY basis at Hair Thursday has become, well, harried. Sure, I still want to share hair inspiration or a product review or a makeover post, but why can’t I just do that here at whoorl? Remember the good ol’ days? MEMORIEEES, LIGHT THE CORNERS OF MY MIIIIIND)

Hmmm, maybe I’m just having a moment. Who knows. Do you have any thoughts on the matter?

Sounds like you’re getting a lot of great advice. After doing my taxes this season for my Pampered Chef business and knowing that a baby was on the way – I decided to give it up. It was bitter sweet but without regret. Now I have time to comment on blogs again! Like a couple others mentioned, I like the idea of just posting ideas/experiences/makeovers here when inspiration hits.

I just clicked on the “good ole days” link you inserted. HA! That was the VERY FIRST personal blog I EVER read! Funny that that’s how I “met you”. I remember thinking at the time, “Wito huh? People in California give their kids crazy names!”

I enjoy Hair Thursday, especially the product recommendations and tutorials (found Macadamia Oil and Fekkai Glossing cream through you- thanks!), but I agree with others who miss the makeovers. That was my favorite part. I would prefer to read you here if you are only going to keep up with one site. You could occasionally do a hair post here if you have something interesting you’d like to share. I say, let it go! I DO enjoy reading your writing- perhaps you’d share some of your freelance work??

I think bringing the best of Hair Thursday over here would be great – you can include those things to whatever extent seems natural to you without doing it because you have to.

I also kind of like the idea of handing over Hair Thursday to someone else. That wouldn’t preclude you from showcasing the things you love or hair tutorials over here, I wouldn’t think.

I agree with Abby- sell it and do what you love. Isn’t that what Maggie did with Mighty Stuff? You’ve built a valuable brand, now someone else can run with it.

Sounds like you’ve found some fabulous clarity…..

No matter what, we’ll still be reading in one place or the other!

Can you take it back to just the reader makeovers? That was my favorite! I do love your tutorials & reviews, but you can do those as occasional features @ either place.

I say go with your gut. I really do enjoy reading about products and seeing people’s new hair styles. Maybe it’s a once a week or once every two weeks kind of thing. Your hair is very similar is color and texture to mine so I enjoy reading what you use on and do to your hair. :)

I have always loved whoorl the most. Hair Thursday’s been fun, too. Sprinkling hair posts into your whoorl posts would just be dreamy.

Do what makes you happy. I’ll keep reading no matter what. xo

The thing I like about Hair Thursday is learning about new products, techniques, etc. I feel like it keeps me from getting old or set in my ways. I would miss that, but either way your blogs are fun to read!

If your heart isn’t in it, it isn’t in it. I taught myself how to curl my hair from that tutorial and it works well for me and doesn’t take forever! I am very glad you shared that as the idea of a curling iron scared me shitless. But bottom line you need to do what makes you happy.

Agree with previous comments that Hair Thursday just hasn’t been the same without the regular makeovers. Would love to see an occasional hair makeover on Whoorl, along with the other product reviews and the like. Things and people change…don’t feel bad about it…life’s too short to do things you don’t have passion for.

I say if you’re done with it, if it’s become more WORK and almost no fun, if your life is otherwise busy and fulfilling, then be done with it. Write about hair, if you ever feel the need, over here.
