How I Style My Hair (Products, Tools, and a Tutorial!)

easy waves with a curling iron

Hello hello! It’s been a few years since I’ve written about hair-related affairs, so I’m here with a completely updated hair routine for you. In this video, I will walk you through my favorite styling products (all green beauty, of course), styling tools, and demonstrate how I create my easy waves with a curling iron. (The video is featured on my IGTV which is a better mobile viewing experience, but here’s the YouTube version for those on a desktop.)

True Botanicals Shampoo and Conditioner ($20 off your first order of $40+ with code WHOORLTRUE20)

As always, the styling products I use are natural, non-toxic, and contain Organic ingredients!

I’ve since started using different styling tools – you can find my updated ones here.

Hope this was helpful! If you have any specific questions regarding how I care for and/or style my hair, let me know in the comments!

Do you ever wear your hair naturally wavy? Just wondering what you do with your bangs? DO you style them as usual and let the rest air dry/diffuse?

Yep. Still style my bangs as usual and let the rest air dry.

Do you twist your hair up at night when you sleep? What’s the best way to keep the curls at night?

I prefer to sleep with it down because it adds to the messiness, which I love.

I haven’t watched the video yet but plan to do so. I remember you previously talking about getting your hair cut only twice yearly – what do you ask for in a haircut so that it grows out nicely between cuts? I’ve found over the years that hair stylists always want to thin out my hair and cut a lot of layers and I have to think that’s not absolutely necessary for someone with long thick hair.

Honestly, the major reason my hair looks the way is probably due to the cut. My stylist spends between 2-3 hours cutting my hair. It’s very pricey but worth it to me because I only do it twice a year. It’s washed then blowdried very smooth before he even gets the scissors out. Then he just works his magic. (He actually passed away suddenly last week and I am just devastated – he was so talented and such a wonderful person.)

I clicked on the link for the Andalou shampoo. Many of the recent comments say they changed the formula and they don’t like it. Have you bought any recently?

Yep! A couple of weeks ago.

So after you use the brush from Sally’s on your bangs do you do anything else to them? Round brush, straightner? Product?

No. Unless it’s very humid – then I might run a flat iron over them.

First, I’m so sorry for the loss of your friend.

Second, can you comment on your thoughts or plan for going grey? Have you ever dyed your hair? I ask as a fellow brunette. I’m 37 and I have been dying to cover the grey. It’s mostly concentrated at my temples. I’m approaching a key point where I could grow it in without a wildly obvious stripe, but I don’t know if there is enough white yet to look intentional. I would love to have silver hair one day. I don’t want to dye forever. I’m looking for wisdom from a stylish lady.

Thank you. I do not color my hair and have no intention of coloring. I have silver hairs coming in rapidly and I love them!

How do you keep your workouts from ruining your hairstyle? Do you put it in a bun?

      Low, loose ponytails.

How often do you trim your bangs? Do you do it yourself or have someone local who does it for you?

Your hair always looks so beautiful. I wish I could get mine to look as smooth as yours. Thanks for the tips!
