Here’s the deal – I can’t rock a smoky eye. At least, I can’t rock most smoky eye looks. Anything involving black or plum or dark navy instantly transforms me into a brothel inhabitant, so I steer very clear. However, I’ve been experimenting with metallics lately, and have found a really pretty (and fairly subtle) bronze look that suits my day-to-day grind. Wanna see? Let’s do this thing!
First, be sure to prep your face for the day (or night) by using your foundation, tinted moisturizer, and/or concealer. I usually apply foundation sparingly to certain areas and concealer underneath my eyes.
Apply bronze eye shadow to your lid and your crease. I am using CoverGirl Flamed Out Shadow Pot in Melted Caramel #330.
Inspired by fire, the CoverGirl flaming femme color palette ranges from flames to ashes. I love this shadow because you can build up the intensity easily to really pack a punch or keep it subtle for day.
I always move my brush back and forth in a half-moon shape in my crease to create definition on my eyelids.
Here’s a look at both bronzed lids.
Using a smaller brush, apply the same bronze color to the base of the lashes.
After you’ve finished adding the bronze to both eyes (top and bottom), apply a little bit of black or dark brown liner to the waterline.
Just that little bit of liner adds such intensity right?
Mascara time. Don’t forget to curl the lashes!
Okay, you guys. I am seriously impressed with the Flamed Out Mascara. The unique wire brush (it’s kind of twisty) coats your lashes for some serious volume. I used the Very Black Blaze shade.
Take a look for yourself.
WHOAH, am I right? That stuff makes your lashes go up, up, up.
After applying mascara, there’s one more secret step. I apply a little bit of shimmery shadow in the inner corners of my eyes. I swear it instantly makes you look more awake and well rested. I used the CoverGirl Flamed Out Shadow Pencil in Crystal Flame #305 – it’s really creamy and goes on smoothly.
After finishing the eyes, I applied a bit of bronzer on my cheeks, a pinkish-nude lip gloss on my lips, gave my hair a little spritz of beach spray, and voilá! Easy breezy.
So, here’s the best part. Giveaway time! I’m giving away a collection of 6 CoverGirl Flamed Out products, as well as a $100 gift card to ULTA Beauty. June 26, 2013 at 9:04 amThe summer is the one time of the year I’m finally tan enough that I enjoy opting for the lighter pink lipstick colors – the rest of the year I’m so fair that with my dark hair it just makes me look washed out.
