Battle of the Rollers, Part Two – BaByliss Hairsetter

Battle of the Rollers part one here.

After trying the Caruso Hairsetter, I decided it was time to give the BaByliss Pro 30 Professional Hairsetter a spin. The BaByliss rollers are similar to what I’ve used in the past – heated rollers that create curl. This set includes 30 rollers: 6 small (3/4″), 8 medium (1″), 8 large (1 .25″), and 8 Jumbo (1.5″). I mainly used the jumbo size, but ran out and had to use the large on the bottom section of my hair. As for the unit itself, I liked how these rollers were double insulated – they fit down into the the casing, which helped to maintain temperature.

I rolled my hair in the same fashion as I did with the Caruso rollers. The one thing I noticed right off the bat is that I couldn’t take as much time rolling each individual section as I did with the Caruso. Holding these rollers for longer than a few seconds was uncomfortable due to the heat, so it made my rolled sections a little less perfect.

Notice the tissue on the right side. I forgot how hot rollers can burn your ears!

I left the rollers in until they cooled, removed, sprayed with a bit of hairspray and separated the curls in the same manner as the Caruso hairsetter review. Here was the result.

The curls were fairly similar to the Caruso, methinks. (Although the BaByliss rollers seemed to leave a little more frizz. You can see it on the left side of the above photo.)

I like the look of the Caruso curls better. They look smoother and more defined.

I like the look of the Caruso curls better, but having used Caruso before, my prone-to-frizz hair was frizzier using Caruso because of the moisture. Also, I’ve found that my Caruso curls didn’t last very long. I’ve been tempted to try the regular hot rollers again. Did you notice which curls lasted longer?

I like the Caruso better as well. Much smoother. I am so glad you are doing this little test. I am growing my hair out currently and am not exactly happy with my rollers. I need new ones, but do not want to waste money on ones that will not work to my liking.

Both look lovely. The Caruso curls look fuller, but I’m wondering which curls lasted longer.

I like the Caruso better by a smidge but it doesn’t look all that different. I’d love a chance to win as I’m growing my hair out and need things to do with it.

I’m joining the Caruso bandwagon. Seems like with the steam they’d be better for your hair anyway?

Honestly, your hair looks fabulous in both pictures. I can’t even concentrate on finding a difference because I am just in complete awe of HOW MUCH HAIR you have… heh :)

My hair is fine and flat, so these curlers would be great for trying to create more volume!

The Caruso does look a little better/different. Although they both look great!

I think I like the Caruso better, but love the effortless curls they both create!

I’m a big fan of the clips with the BaByliss!

Maybe I’d be tempted to curl my hair more often with good rollers!

I know you run a website about hair so your has to be perfect but that doesn’t mean I can’t be just a smidge jealous.

I’ve wanted to try hot rollers again after seeing all of the new hair trends lately, but just don’t know which way to spend my money. So basically thank you for having this give-away! I hope I win one of them! :)
