Say hello to Anh.
Anh’s hair:
Naturally very dark brown
Normal condition
Thick and straight
Uses styling tools
Spends anywhere between 15 minutes to an hour styling
Uses Catwalk Extra Strong Mousse to hold curl
Anh would like to try a short or medium length hairstyle, so I’ve taken the liberty of picking one of each for her.

Option #1 – Eva Longoria‘s bob would look perfectly polished on Anh’s thick, straight hair. I love the smooth ends and the shorter layer in the front, which would accent Anh’s cheekbones.
Daily Makeover Key Styling Tip:
Step 1: Combine a dab of styling lotion with a few drops of shine serum and apply onto damp hair. Blow-dry two-inch sections with a round brush applying upward tension at the root for lift, then turn the brush several times to add subtle roundness to the length.
Step 2: Once dry, create a deep side part and run a flat iron over half-inch sections for sleek results.
Step 3: Apply a few drops of shine serum onto your hands and run your palms over your hair to smooth the surface and eliminate frizz. Tuck one side back.
Option #2 – If Anh is hesitant to go that short, Anne Hathaway‘s sleek bob would also give Anh a polished look without taking all of her length off.
Daily Makeover Key Styling Tip:
Step 1: Mix a dime-size amount each of leave-in conditioner and straightening cream along with a few drops of shine serum and apply onto damp hair. Blow dry two-inch sections at time with a vent brush to straighten out your hair.
Step 2: Once dry, set a sleek finish by smoothing a flat iron over half-inch sections and then slightly bend the ends under.
Step 3: Apply a few drops of shine serum onto your hands and then run your palms over your hair to smooth the surface and eliminate frizz.
What do you think? Short or medium?

October 15, 2009 at 2:43 pmi voted for #1. i too have crazy thick hair and the bob can be super easy to maintain and very flattering. i love the look of eva too with the longer length and shorter length in front which can provide that edgy look.

October 15, 2009 at 3:08 pmLove #1.
I have a question… don’t know if I’ll find an answer here but it’s worth a shot, right? I got my own hair cut from basically Ahn’s current style to the pic of Eva Longoria’s hair about a week ago. And I love it… except that if I try to style it the way it is styled in that photo, it invariably turns under on one side but flips out on the other side after an hour or so. Does anyone else have this problem, and any solutions?

October 15, 2009 at 4:26 pmSparklytosingle – I have the same problem with one side going under and one flipping out. I have had some success using a flat iron and forcing it under…aside from that, my only solution is growing my hair out!

October 15, 2009 at 6:03 pmEva Longoria look is definitely the one for her. Not that I love Eva and her style but I think Anh would look great with her hair shorter

October 16, 2009 at 10:26 pmBoth are lovely, but most definitely, #2. My dearest friend has hair that at one time was cut just like your current style (and she too is of asian descent with thick, beautiful hair.)
She cut it in a style very similar to # 1 (great cut, looked great day 1 but then – POOF- that thick hair seemed to expand every day and if it got a little humid, well, “mushroom head” is now in our vocabulary. The amount of maintenance that went into that do wore her out.
Cute cut, but I think #2 (or at least a longer version of #1) would be far better with your hair – a little length will help weigh it down a bit.
