Sara’s hair:

Naturally dark brown
Normal condition
Thick, slightly wavy
Looking for a shorter, wash-n-go style

Sara is a busy mom who is looking to take her current style shorter, but not pixie short. I know Sara personally, and besides being a looker (who looks that cute standing around in a tool shed? Huh?), she has a great sense of style. One of the things I love about Sara’s look is that she possesses a little bit of edge, so I wasn’t surprised when she sent a photo of Sienna Miller’s short style as a new possible look.

Love it. I think this would look so attractive on Sara and would meet all of her requirements for getting out of the door in 10 minutes or less. However, I grabbed a couple more options for her to consider before making the cut. Sara mentioned that her hair has become decidedly more wavy since the birth of her daughter, so the following options would be great shorter cuts for wavy hair.

I’m kind of obsessing over this incredible style on Mena Suvari. It’s not too different from Sienna Miller’s cut, and actually has very similar angles to Sara’s before cut. Essentially, this style would keep the angles, but shorten the length while keeping the texturized ends and piecey bangs. Love this one, plain and simple. Sara’s waves would be accentuated nicely.

A key styling tip for this look is using styling lotion (like Bumble and bumble Styling Lotion) and a pomade/wax to create definition in the waves. Super quick, but makes a world of difference.

Option #2 is Nora Zehetner‘s shorter look. (I didn’t know who this actress was before, but I am now loving her hair.) This look definitely takes the length up around the sides of the face, but still looks totally chic, fresh and hello, EASY.

What do you all think? I’m pretty sure Sara would look gorgeous with any of these three styles!

I had the Sienna Miller cut in college (dyed black!) and when it grew out it was the most gorgeous, flippy bob ever. The hairstylist who did the cut was crazy and fell off the face of the earth, but I’d give anything to find her again! Never again have I had a cut that I loved and continued to love as it grew out.

I have just decided today to cut all my hair off. Again. After just growing it out. And Sienna’s hair is perfect. Thanks for posting this!

I think she would look great with Sienna Miller’s short haircut and style. No matter what haircut she will choose she must make herself blonde at first. It will be an amazing change.

I couldn’t disagree more about the blonde comment. Sara’s natural color is gorgeous and a blonde shade would not only wreck her hair, but wash her out completely.

Mena’s cut is the perfect option for a somewhat drastic change – the same silhouette and shape (as you mention) and flexible enough to be cut shorter, if desired. HOTT.

The top part of her hair does not look too wavy. I think the Sienna cut would be lovely on her.

All those cuts look awesome and I think they’d all look fantastic on Sara. Only thing is, the Sienna cut/style reminds me a little too much of Kate Gosselin, so I had to take it out of the running, personally. Plus the wavy cut seems like it would be even easier/faster to style because Sara could just let her natural waves take stage instead of ironing it straight and all.

i saw her headshot and immediately thought audrey tautou……but perhaps thats too similar to her current cut?

i agree on the potential into kate gosselin territory on the sienna cut though….its a fine line…

I LOVE Option #1. If cut well, it could look really chic and elegant dried and straightened. But the wave…AWESOME. Very tempting for me. Maybe a future cut. Still can’t part with the long hair…yet. Sara’s beautiful and could totally make this cut sexy/edgy, not just cute!

I love Sienna’s cut and Mena’s (option 1). Mena’s is pretty similar to her current haircut, so if she really wants more of a change, I’d say go for Sienna’s cut.

I like her hair brown. If she wanted a color change, maybe some auburn highlights or a darker brown, but definitely not blond. Way too much upkeep and just not the right color for her skin tone.
