January 27, 2020 at 1:15 pmMy 8 year old asked for TikTok because some of her friends in school had it. So, I looked into how to keep her safe on it (making the account yours and having in on your phone as well so you can see everything that is done, making it private, etc…). I set it all up for her and logged in to explore before I let her have access.
First couple of video’s were fine, then one came up and I was like “Oh HELL no. She is NOT seeing things like this.” This particular video was very sexual, definitely not for an 8 year old. I had no idea about all the other things this article talks about. Absolutely terrifying.

January 27, 2020 at 1:55 pmMy kids aren’t getting a phone or social media accounts until high school, and probably not until 16 as the article suggests. We made this decision years ago (my oldest is currently 8 and some of his SECOND GRADE friends have their own iphones, which hurts my heart) and I am SO GLAD we did. Ugh. It’s a sick world out there.
