Odds and Ends

1. BOUNCE IT, LIL PUPPY! I. Can. Not. Deal. This. Is. So. Funny.

2. Have you seen this interactive website that takes you to the deepest depths of the ocean? Is it weird that I started holding my breath and becoming incredibly anxious as I went deeper?

3. This month’s Petit Vour box is insane! $18 for all of these products?? (The full-sized Fitglow mascara is 38 bucks alone.)

4. Fellow work-from-home friends, have you seen this? Too real.

5. I am obsessed with Cheer on Netflix. OBSESSED. Coach Monica, be my best friend.

6. I’m so torn about Tik Tok. It is a scary place, man.

7. Great books on race. I’ve added a few of these to my Goodreads list.

8. I find it so amusing that Nordstrom (Nordstrom!) sells items like this. (It was in their Valentine’s Day guide. Hey, more power to ya, but I’ll be wearing this on Valentine’s Day.)

9. New York’s 20 most-read stories of 2019. I only read 3 of them last year – need to step it up!

10. 100 years of girls’ clothing. Love love love the 1940s and I pretty much wear the 1970s get-up as a 45-year-old.

11. The most popular last name in every country and what they mean. Pretty cool.

Happy Friday! January is never going to end. Like ever.

My 8 year old asked for TikTok because some of her friends in school had it. So, I looked into how to keep her safe on it (making the account yours and having in on your phone as well so you can see everything that is done, making it private, etc…). I set it all up for her and logged in to explore before I let her have access.

First couple of video’s were fine, then one came up and I was like “Oh HELL no. She is NOT seeing things like this.” This particular video was very sexual, definitely not for an 8 year old. I had no idea about all the other things this article talks about. Absolutely terrifying.

My kids aren’t getting a phone or social media accounts until high school, and probably not until 16 as the article suggests. We made this decision years ago (my oldest is currently 8 and some of his SECOND GRADE friends have their own iphones, which hurts my heart) and I am SO GLAD we did. Ugh. It’s a sick world out there.

My son is literally the ONLY 7th-grade student at his school who doesn’t have a phone. It’s so sad watching all the tweens and teens walking out at the end of the day staring down at their phones.
