Things she says:
1. Ruffles = Sniffles “Mama, I have the ruffles today.”
2. “What it is?” instead of “What is it?”
3. Chin Spill = Vomit “I don’t feel so good. I think my chin is going to spill.”
4. Soggy = Foggy “It’s so soggy this morning.”
5. Usually replaces “v” with “b” – “I love banilla ice cream.” (Except that actually, she says “balilla,” and it’s the sweetest thing ever.)
Things she does:
1. Changes her outfit at least 7 times a day.
2. Always, always puts her shirt on backwards and shoes on the wrong feet.
3. Sings every song on the radio while riding in the car. Her favorites? Lada Gaga and Katy Perry, because of course.
4. Sleeps with her light on. Even when I sneak in to turn it off, it’s always back on before she wakes up in the morning.
5. Spends the first hour of “bedtime” standing in her closet and layering on clothing. A few night’s ago, I peeked in at 8:30pm to find her in three pairs of pants, two shirts, a bathing suit on top of it all, and a tiara.
6. She’s incredibly social with the neighbors, and gets super upset if someone doesn’t wave back to her.
7. Loves applying lip gloss. Her preference? Ruby red with “sprinkles” (sparkles) on top.

November 8, 2013 at 7:59 amAh, I love this age! My three-year-old is just bursting with hilarious phrases. She always asks if I’ve read the “restructions” before we play a game or do a project.

November 8, 2013 at 8:06 amI keep a little journal for each kid listing this stuff, and try to write in it at least every month (I wish it was every week). One of my favorites is from my daughter when she was about 2.5 years old. She asked about the chicken we were having for dinner, “It’s not a farm chicken, right? It’s a dinner chicken. Farm chickens would get really mad if you just walked up and took a bite.”
My son counts before blastoff, “one…two…free…four…five…FREE GO!”

November 8, 2013 at 8:33 amOh these are just too cute! My 3 year old says the same What it is? When she is going somewhere, she asks if she’ll be there all the day. Vitamins = bitavins. And when we get dressed, it’s always “I like your top mommy” (Or pants, glasses, bra, boobs, whatever!) While I’m convinced 3 is just about the worst age, what with all the defiance, it is also the best and sweetest age.

November 8, 2013 at 9:23 amOh! This post just made me so excited! I have two little girls, one is 4.5 and the other will be 2 in three weeks. The four-year-old is largely out of the “cute ways of saying things” stage, but boy does she have some profound thoughts! The two-year-old is just getting to the place where we can understand most of what she says and I am so so so looking forward to her unique little sayings :D Thank you so much for sharing!!

November 8, 2013 at 11:47 amI have a 7 year old who calls an eraser “aneraser”. She asks for a “aneraser” for her homework and sometimes she has to “anerase” an answer. I’ve tried to correct her but she says, “Mama, it’s just what I’m going to call it, okay?”. She used to say soupcase instead of suitcase which is my favorite. When daddy used to travel every week I heard it a lot. She also used to say she was ” super upcited!” instead of super excited. My husband and I still use that term with frequency. I love these little idiosyncrasies!

The other morning, I asked my five year old what he wanted for breakfast. He replied “cinnamon raisin bagel, toasted, with cream cheese and a bowl of pineapple on the side” I made it. He looked at it in disgust and said “Mom, I really wanted cereal. You just don’t get me” *crying from laughing so hard*
