Home Tour: Master Bedroom

The master bedroom of our home needed some MAJOR help. I mean, you guys, it was pretty dang sad when we purchased it. (Remember this little video I shot of the demolition? It was the last room of the video.)

Am I right? Ouch.

We are much happier with it post-renovation. (HUGE UNDERSTATEMENT.)

room

We purchased the canopy bed prior to owning this house, so it wouldn’t have been our #1 choice for this particular space, but we still love the bed itself. (Room and Board, yo!)

We loved and wanted to keep the original cantilevered closet doors, even though they were the biggest pain in the arse to prime and paint. However, I love how they retain the original feel of the room.

The closet space itself isn’t massive, so it forced me to do a little refreshing and updating to my wardrobe. Not a bad thing, people.

We also love this red chair that was compliments of Fashion for Home. Adds a nice pop of color to the room.

Happy dance. The kids rooms are up next!

Such a lovely room. What color white did you use on the walls? It’s perfect!

Very nice. I really like the sunburst mirror, and have been searching for the perfect one for some time. Would you mind to share where you got it?

It’s vintage. I think we found it in Chicago. :)

I love that you are sharing before & afters of your home. You guys have done such an amazing job renovating and decorating. Love it all! The sphere pillow on your bed is adorable. Can’t wait to see the kiddie rooms!

Oh dang! This room is outstanding. Are you a wizard or a magician or something?! The room looks 17 times bigger now! Well done, friend.

Your room looks incredible, I love it. This is kind of a ridiculous question to ask, but can you tell me if the skirting boards have a hard angled top or slightly rounded? And how high? It’s these tiny decisions that are making my head explode with renovating, so when I see one I like I now just ask! Actually I don’t know if you call them skirting board in America. The bits along the bottom of the walls. Thanks!

Totally not a ridiculous question because skirting boards/baseboards are so important! Ours look hard-angled, but have the slightest rounding just at the tip of the edge, and are 4 inches high.

Looks great, Sarah! I am curious – what bed would you get if you had your pick for that room? your master bedroom is almost identical to ours in layout and size right down to the window placement, and we really need to redo it!

Thanks! Not sure exactly, but we wouldn’t go for a canopy considering the narrow window above the bed.
