Home Tour: Kitchen and Dining Room

It’s home tour time. Cue trumpet fanfare!

First up, the kitchen and dining room. Here’s the kitchen when we bought the house and after the renovation.

(psst – all of the previous nitty gritty renovation posts can be found here.)

Our new island is totally the command center of the house. (All kitchen appliances and fixture choices can be found here.)

And check out the dining room transformation. Sayonara, nasty wood paneling!

Although, it’s funny – we thought we were done with this part of this house until we decided, well, we weren’t. We made a few more changes since photographing the house, namely, adding another window in the dining room.

I’m telling you, that window is a game changer. The morning light is beyond. LOVE.

As for the other window in the dining room, we changed that as well. (Please take a look at that before photo. Not only were we dealing with the wood paneling, but the previous tenants purposely installed a carpet strip into the wall. WHAT THE WHUT.)

Did I mention that the lovely and talented Jessie Webster shot these beautiful photos of our space? Here are some of my favorites.

    Love!

I love the contrast of the uber modern kitchen units with the rest of the more retro style furniture. Especially jealous of you dining table and chairs. Also really like your marble splash back.

So, so beautiful. That yellow door makes me swoon. And the back splash is breathtaking. Even without the trim painted, you can see how much that new window adds. Love it and am excited to see the rest!

Is that a marble backsplash? Well I never! (Say that with a southern accent.)

Beautiful job, Sarah. You were brave to take on a house that had carpet on the walls, and it looks wonderful!

Indeed! A lovely slab of Calacatta Vision, to be exact.

      Thanks, Whitney!

That is so pretty (and inspiring!). We just moved to Newport/Irvine and are renting until we can find a house. It’s amazing to see what a beautiful space you were able to create.

Gorgeous!! Where did you get those chairs next to the buffet- beautiful black and white? Are they Cherners you covered?

Hey Molly! The chairs are vintage (Eames-inspired that my husband got for 6 bucks each in Denver) that we recovered with a fabric from Ikea. :)

It is AMAZING!!! I love everything about it!

Can you please tell me the yellow paint color you used on the door? Thanks!

Dunn Edwards Brassy. It’s a great golden yellow!

Another Molly piping up – beautiful kitchen, I love that yellow door like crazy. We’re in the process of looking for a house to remodel up here in Seattle, and I’m wondering if you might be willing to share how many square feet you’re working with here (just the kitchen/dining area, or even the whole house). It’s difficult to tell whether houses we’re looking at have enough space to do what we want – and it looks like you have about the space we’re looking for. Wonderful job!

Thank you! Not sure about the kitchen/dining area (need to get back to you on that one), but the house is 2100 square feet.

So good! I love the blue light and green chairs offset by all the white.
