Odds and Ends No. 27

cord

1. If you’re forced to deal with cords, you might as well make them pretty.

2. Great guide for washing and storing all kinds of produce.

3. Summer is here and let’s ponder some bold haircuts for the season.

4. This dress. I saw this dress at my local J. Crew and fell in love, despite not being available in my size at the store or on online. Lucky for me, the J. Crew here in Oklahoma had one left. SCORE. (They also have that same style in pink and blue.)

5. I love this metabolism boosting yoga sequence that was featured in the GOOP newsletter this week. (Scroll about halfway down the page to see.)

6. How do you deal with frustration and your kids? Are you a yeller? Kristen and I admit to frequently raising our voices in this week’s Mama Said video.

This is my last weekend in Oklahoma, and I honestly can’t believe I’ve been here for 10 days already. Time flies when you’re having fun, and being with my family and friends was so needed. (Man, it’s going to be a rude awakening when we get back home. The kids are still in school next week!) Looking forward to a few more days by the pool before heading back to California. Any big travel plans in your future?

Your haircut article would be more helpful with pictures. :)

I wish I could put more than one in those articles, but I can’t. :(

I so love, love, love the links too. The First Taste video is really funny and the kids are so cute. The 33 meticulous cleaning tricks are very informative, I want more actually haha. As much as I wanted to yell sometimes, I can’t and I won’t because my son is so adorable, he perfectly knew what to do whenever I got angry.
You are very much right, time runs fast when we are having fun.

I loved the Mama Said video. I do not currently have children, pregnant with my first. I am a teacher in a classroom for students with severe behavior problems. Also, my husband and I frequently have our 5 year old nephew for the weekends. My tip for not yelling (I am not perfect at this though!) is whispering. If I want my students or nephew to do something I go over and quietly tell them and no one else can hear. My principal frequently states I talk too quietly, but my students do really well in my room. I feel like people can tune out regular voices and yelling, but a whisper seems to get to them. It always works with my nephew! It has stopped many temper tantrums! : )

I really like it when folks get together and share ideas. Great site, stick with it!

My husband loves extension cords, it’s kinda ridiculous really… I can’t believe I never thought about this!
