Hello! Happy New Year! Did you stay up late last night? I was out cold by 9:30pm, mainly due to yesterday’s flight with a possessed toddler. I got a glorious night’s sleep, though, and if that isn’t a great way to start the new year, I don’t know what is!
So! Let’s talk resolutions, folks. A have a few this year.
1. No shopping until April 1st. Besides what’s in my Paypal account ($41 at the moment), I can not spend money on clothes, shoes, or accessories. It’s been 12 hours and I’m already twitching in the corner. I can’t really go into more detail right now or I might start sobbing.
2. Ridding myself of disingenuous and/or pot-stirring folks. I think some of you all might be dealing with these types. You know the kind of person whose attitude towards you or your loved ones fluctuates from one end of the spectrum to the other depending on whose company you are in? Fun and happy one day, cold and distant the next, all depending on who else is around? Is it not just the most tiresome and bizarro behavior ever? Yep. I’m kind of over it. Same goes for pot-stirrers- I just threw them in for good measure. Operation Happy Times starts now. Who’s in? Holla!
3. Beauty Resolutions. I’ve got a couple of beauty resolutions. Thanks to my first one, my hair currently looks like a shaggy dog.
2012, I’ve got a good feeling about you. Happy New Year, everyone!

January 1, 2012 at 2:46 pmOh, my. Your #2 resolution is one that I had to act on today, and I didn’t even know it was going to be a resolution. Pot stirrers, indeed. Amen.

January 1, 2012 at 2:55 pmI’m so with you on #2. I’ve come to the conclusion that people are who they are. I can’t change them, so I will accept them. However, that does not mean I have to put up with petty shennanigans, so I don’t. Just moving forward surrounding myself with the people who make me happy and doing the things that make me happy!
Happy New Year to you and your family!
PS – Good luck with #1 – yikes!

January 1, 2012 at 4:36 pmAs if you could look like a shaggy dog. ;-)
I am all for nixing those types of people. I’ve mostly rid myself of toxic people. It’s super liberating and I say AMEN to getting rid of them.

January 1, 2012 at 6:16 pmYour shaggy dog look is what I wish I could achieve. I used have wonderful straight-wash-and-wear-hair. Two kids later with the hair loss and recover cycle has left me with a mess that doesn’t know if it wants to be wavy but for sure looks like a bush woman. =0( Happy New Year!

January 2, 2012 at 9:18 pmFrenemies! That’s what it is..pot-stirrers that do it to totally f*ck with your mind. I left them in 2011 too :)

January 3, 2012 at 5:00 amMy sister and I are going to TRY to do no clothes for the entire year. We decided on it in plenty of time to stock up (which I guess may defeat the purpose to some degree), so that we can dole a few new things out of our stash during the year. We even came up with a written agreement and decided how we would handle situations that MUST have new clothes. We can, however, buy accessories except for shoes…so 2012 will be the year of jewelry, belts and scarves! I have to quickly delete my e-mails from shopping sites and avert my eyes at Target, but so far, so good!

January 3, 2012 at 10:45 amGreat ideas! I just told myself the same thing about clothes. I have PLENTY! My kids can have the new stuff……since they’re doing that whole growing thing constantly.
#2 was my 2011 and it worked for me but I was not popular for a while. I live in a small town and once I started cutting the manipulative people out of my life I was talked about. That stung. Manipulative, pot-stirring, toxic people don’t like it when you stand up for yourself. They want to control you and keep you on the dark side. It took a few months but I’m SO happy they’re gone from my life.
My beauty resolution is to use fantastic hair products. I’ve been using WEN for almost a month and it’s awesome. I also should give up my lip gloss addiction. ;)

January 6, 2012 at 8:31 amThat’s a great question. Unfortunately, sometimes you can’t! Just try to keep your distance. In my case, this person is in my life for good, there’s no getting around it, but I can choose to keep myself distanced from them as much as possible. And that’s what I plan to do in 2012! Good luck!
