The Top Knot
Last December, I cut a fair amount of hair off, and with the exception of 5 or 6 days since, I’ve been in mourning. It hasn’t mattered how “fresh” people told me it looks or that “I needed the change,” the truth is, I LIKE MY HAIR LONG. I am lame, and the antithesis of follicular risk-tasking. I’m okay with it.
Although the cut itself was technically lovely, it ended up being that horrible in-between length where it would flip up from resting on my shoulder, and it was too short to make my waves look decent on a regular basis (my waves look better as my hair gets longer). Most importantly, I lost the ability to put it up in my beloved top knot easily. Oh, dear me.
However, I’m here to tell you that after months of growing, my hair is entering its happy territory. Just in time for the warmest part of summer too. I am in top knot heaven.
Antique mirror + Instagram filter = Texture up the ying-yang.
Girls’ Day Out. Holla!
My two preferred methods of creating a top knot are 1) using Goody Spin Pins, or 2) just wrapping my hair around itself in a bun and using an elastic to wrap around the base. (Does that make sense? Maybe a tutorial is in order?) However, I am loving this new (to me) bun that I saw at The Beauty Department.
If you love the top knot as much as I do, check out the step-by-step instructions here.
