Maclaren Volo

PEOPLES OF THE INTERNET! I love my Maclaren Volo. So much, in fact, that I wrote a review last year when I was still writing for ParentDish. (Here is the post, for those of you who like details.)

It has been put through the ringer for years and is still my #1 stroller. (I also own a Bugaboo and a BOB jogging stroller, for reference.)

Why am I telling you this? Well, I just purchased a Maclaren double stroller on Gilt for el cheapo and noticed they also have the Volo for 85 bucks, people. 85 BONES. If you are looking for a super lightweight stroller that takes a lickin’ and keeps on tickin’, I highly recommend this baby.

Check it out here. (And if you aren’t a member, click here to join.)

is it wrong that i’d like to get one of these for the farmer’s market? so i can strap my finds in, but also so i can level the playing field between me and all the cart rollers who insist on smashing my feet at every turn!

    1. Not fair that they are out of the super cheap doubles.

    2. Don’t buy the white one, people. We have it and every time you fold it, the wheels scuff the top. It is the most awesome stroller ever, but if I was OCD at all, I would never be able to use it. Thankfully, I don’t mind a little dirt.

I concur. We have one with a black top and it is much easier to hide dirt. But $85, YO.

I second that!!! I have a maclaren triumph and a bugaboo and LOVE my maclaren!! I have #2 on the way as well and will be buying a twin techno. FYI you can sometimes find old models (but still new!) on ebay for a significantly reduced price too.
    GOOD LUCK TO YOU!!!!

Maude? Molly? Mae? Maeve? Had to throw in a few :)

Thank you for this! I’m due in September and snapped up one of the Triumphs. I know getting the white Volo dirty would bug me too much.

I have a Volo also – picked it up for $85 from RightStart.com when they were going out of business! I totally saw the on Gilt and thought to myself “Man, I wish I needed another stroller!”

Great pick! We have a regular Uppa Baby Vista and I LOVE IT SO MUCH but we are looking for a little umbrella stroller as our boy is becoming less baby and more boy toddler.

I dont have a comment on the stroller but the “85 BONES” made me fall out laughing. that is such a fun vernacular throw back!

Looking for double stroller recs as I have an almost 2 year old and a baby due in 3 weeks (eek!) and the ones I’ve looked are either mansions or not supportive enough for a new baby.

    Maggie? Miranda?

P.S. I really like Wito’s new haircut–once my son’s hair starts grazing the ears I’m all ready for the next cut…and then he gets something too short.

What do you wash his hair with? I’m on the lookout for a non pricey something better than $2 “baby shampoo” Thanks!

I’ve eyed the Maclaren’s from afar but already having 3 strollers, I can’t justfy the purchase. My first stroller, a Graco is so much like the Maclaren but had a bar to clip the car seat into. Which was perfect as the stroller was nice and compact. I heart my B.O.B. and take that bad boy almost anywhere I can.

I wanted to delurk and tell a story of pregnancy/stroller mania.

I am a fan of Emmaljunga strollers, which are like huge English prams. (I am only a fan of them if I never have to put them into a car, but fortunately I live in a very strollable area.)

When I was pregnant with my second child, I simply had to have a double Emmaljunga stroller. Unfortunately, by this time Emmaljunga had stopped distributing in the US and none of the used models on eBay were even remotely acceptable to me, so what did I do? I called Sweden. They didn’t really understand my California english, so they directed me to a shop in London that sold Emmaljungas, which, yes, I also phoned. The London shop had the stroller in stock. I asked them to charge my credit card and mail it to me. They didn’t believe me. “But it’s enormous!” they said. No matter, I was manic with pregnancy-induced stroller lust. The shipping alone cost over $200. I had to go to Customs to retrieve it. I won’t even tell you what the actual stroller ended up costing with the lousy exchange rate at the time.

My husband just shook his head.

We did love the stroller, though.
