How to Acheive a Smooth and Straight Look
I have fallen in love with a hair dryer and must shout it from the rooftops.
The Sedu 4000i. This powerful bad boy is the king of smooth. Take a look for yourself!
OMG. Please don’t dwell on that first photo as it was VERY EARLY in the morning. (The things I will do to spread the word about hair products, I swear.)
Armed with a round brush, your favorite heat protectant and the Sedu, you can whip that crazy hair into shape in minutes!
Start by combing your hair with a wide-toothed comb. (Mine is from Sephora.)
Add you favorite smoothing/heat protectant. On this particular day, I used Redken Satinwear Ultimate Blow Dry Lotion.
(Others I like are Kerastase Chroma Riche Leave-In Treatment, Bumble and Bumble Styling Lotion, Matrix Sleek Look Sealing Serum, Sedu Moisturizing Heat Protecting Boost and my absolute very favorite on the entire planet, Kerastase Nectar Thermique. Which is an entire post in itself. Seriously, it is worth EVERY PENNY.)
Work the product through your hair.
Oh, wait. For those of you with sideswept bangs, go ahead and knock those out by drying them in the OPPOSITE direction of how you want them to lay. Seems counterintuitive, but it works! See?
Okay. Separate your hair into sections.
Start drying away!
Remember to keep the dryer nozzle pointed downwards towards the hair shaft as you pull your round brush slowly through the length of the hair.
Keep drying all of the sections until your face is dripping with sweat and you feel like dying.
When dry, add a dab of shine-enhancing product. (Favorites are Frederic Fekkai Glossing Cream and Moroccan Oil. Be careful with the Moroccan Oil, as you might want to take a swig after smelling the heavenly scent.)
Work the product through the mid-length of your hair to the ends. Touch up with a flat iron if necessary, and voilá!
Smooth and straight, baby.
Are you ready for the best part? I’m giving away not one, but FIVE Sedu 4000i hair dryers courtesy of Folica.com. Say it out loud right now, FOLICA DOT COM IS THE BOMB. (No, they really are. They have EVERYTHING you could possibly need for your hair and more.)

August 25, 2009 at 6:34 amThis is SO timley! I really need a new blow dryer – and I probably really need to stop buying them from Target or CVS. I didn’t realize a blow dryer could help with frizz.

August 25, 2009 at 6:38 amooh, pretty.
I’m in that phase of growing out my hair where I really need a cut to give it some shape, but I keep putting it off to let it grow just a little more before before cutting even a teeny bit of it off. And then I got out and drop cash on a bunch of different hair products and tools thinking that flat irons, curling irons, and products and shampoos thinking that products will make up for a lack of shape.
Yeah, I know. It makes no sense. But surely I’m not the only one who falls prey to this thinking.

August 25, 2009 at 6:52 amSeriously? If you saw my current hair dryer you would immediately walk out of my bathroom, down the stairs and out of my house. Wouldn’t matter if I had a tray full of sushi or chocolate cake to convince you to stay–the hair dryer is that ghetto.
If I don’t win (which I really hope I do) this is going on the to buy list.

August 25, 2009 at 9:21 amI would die if I won this hair dryer because it sounds amazing — and I reallllly really need one. I’m currently using an old Revlon hair dryer that I inherited from my mom when I moved out of my parents’ house over four years ago. I wish it would just die already! It really doesn’t work well at.all. I’m currently at work (shhh) with wet hair because I didn’t have time to dry my hair completely. (I know, classy, right?!) But maybe the new hair dryer would dry my hair faster and/or it would be just SO amazing I would wake up earlier to use it. Fingers Crossed!

August 25, 2009 at 5:42 pmI hate you and your hair. And I mean that in the nicest way possible. :)
I just found this site last night, and I’ve spent most of my day today reading it. I have the most boring flat, fine hair and have never really styled it because, well, I gave up on it. My family has full, bouncy hair, and I can remember my mom giving up on it too whenever she tried to give it a little life for me when I was kid. (Thanks, mom, you quitter!) Okay, so I probably don’t need a blow dryer. I mean, I don’t even own one (?!), but maybe that’s part of the problem. Anyway, it’s time for a cut and something new, and after checking out this place some more, hopefully I won’t have to be so bitter.
