My Family is Weird

Wito and I arrived in the very balmy state of Oklahoma today. Like SEAR MY FACE OFF WITH A BLOW TORCH balmy. How I managed to endure summers here for 18 years is truly boggling.

And what does my family do to combat the heat? We sit around, drinking vodka tonics and wearing holiday reindeer accoutrements. In June. Whatevs.

Tomorrow, we plan to re-stock the candy drawer. It’s business time.

My 4yo was walking around in a Santa hat last week, so no biggie on the reindeer headgear!

    Your family is lovely.

Also I haven’t been there FOREVER. Am I okay if I miss a state that has never been my home but I treat it as such anyway?

I bet your dad bought that holiday gear on ebay like he does everything else……

I’m friends with Laura and she tells me all the ebay maddness that goes on there….I’m just wishing I could be as cool as your pops!

You know, Oklahoma isn’t that far from Illinois. (I actually know this, as I’ve driven from IL through OK.) I say this because our weather, NOT BALMY. I would like some balmy. Actually, I would like it to stop raining every day.

    Have a great trip!

We just got a piano. My husband and kids gather around it and sing Christmas carols, almost every night. In June. Some red and green antlers would really make it festive, though. As would a vodka tonic. Your family might be onto something.

I was just in Mississippi for the weekend and thought the humidity would KILL ME SLOWLY. There’s nothing like walking outside and feeling like you’re in a sauna.

And blow torch balmy? Great. Can’t wait to have my wedding reception in the OKC in friggin’ August.
