Ode to Shana Banana

I’m sure many of you know Miss Shana of Gorillabuns. If not, you are truly missing out. In honor of Shana’s upcoming addition, several of us have decided to throw Shana a virtual baby shower.

I have had the distinct pleasure of knowing Shana way before we started writing blogs. (Which means many drunken and humiliating stories.) However, since we are celebrating an innocent BABY’S arrival, I shall pay tribute with some PG13-rated haiku attempts.

Shana Banana
our teeth look very purple
we should lay off wine

Jeff Buckley’s Grace Album
Did we listen to it for
twenty-three hours straight?

Remember Alva?
You were the first one I told
regarding marriage

You were born to film
YouTube tutorials on
sexy red lipstick

How many Cape Cods
have you ingested in your
thirty-something years?

People need to know
your feelings, karaoke
is not a joke, peeps

I have never met
anyone with a bigger
heart than you, Shana

Go give Shana your good wishes! And to read more about her, check out these other lovely blogs:

    How sweet!

And you, Whoorl, are quite the fine haikuist. (Ah, I love making up words.)

All the best to Shana. You rocked the haiku.

    Black is good on you.

Aww! Such a cute shot of you two. (I do believe this is the only time I’ve ever seen you in a patterned shirt!) And your haiku skills are PEERLESS.

Good God! I so don’t remember taking this picture and is my hair black too?

In response to your beautifully and thoughtfully written Haiku:

I haven’t been able to touch red wine since that night we listened to God, I mean Jeff – 23 hours straight.

While I don’t miss driving to and from hell’s half acre, I do miss the wonderful and life-changing conversations pre-kiddos and marriage.

In response to the Cape Cods, enough that I have yet to have a UTI but less than a necrotic liver.

Karaoke – The marriage counselor for my relationship with my husband and quite possibly why there is a 3rd Gorillabun on the way.

and finally, the last statement. I can’t respond to because tears are flowing too heavily.

Thank you for such a beautiful gift and your friendship throughout the years.

MORE DRUNKEN STORIES! Maybe after the baby comes. ;)

You are both scrumptious in that photo, by the way.

I totally showed up to the shower a day late and possibly drunk. But mostly just late. ; )
