A Call To Action

Fellow bloggers, do you have friends/family members who still don’t fess up to reading your blog? People who don’t blog themselves and don’t realize the information we receive about our readers?

Would these people just cringe knowing that we see HOW MANY times they visit us daily?

Frankly, I’m tickled pink.

To my peeps out there – yes, you know who you are. I dare you to comment. DOUBLE-DOG DARE. I mean, c’mon, that’s the Cadillac (or Porsche, if you will) of all dares. How could you not?

Wait, how do you know that they read your blog without you knowing?

And for those of you who aren’t admitting–I can’t believe she busted out the double-dog dare on you guys. You best do what she wants. =O

No, all my friends and family in real life don’t bother reading my blog. About once a year they will ask “what’s your url again.”

WTF? I can’t get any lovin.

No one in my family does. I think only my mom knows about it, and even she doesn’t. I think I’m going to make business cards to hand out at Christmas next week because these people need to know certain things. (Like that most of them are jerks.)

    Brian,

No, I can’t see people’s names. My stats show IP, city, referrals plus the server they are visiting me on. So, if someone is visiting my blog from their workplace, I can see their companies name…that’s how I can tell. ;)

I have one sister and a cousin (as far as family goes) who know about my blog. Only a handful of friends. And one ex-boyfriend (I even blogged about that). It’s tempting to find out what they’d think, but I know I’d regret their knowing about it eventually.

And here I was not knowing how to bring it up – afterall, what to do when you accidentally discover a great new blog only to realize that it’s your freakin’ cousin who’s doing the writing!!!! I don’t recall that chapter from Emily Post. Do you realize how hard it was to feign surprise when you described with such great joy your new Netflix subscription last Saturday? And how much we laughed when reading about Grandma and the olives? So there – dare met. And don’t you think – in my case, particularly – that its really a quadruple dog dare that we’re dealing with? Love ya, cuz – and am so proud.

Whoo- Is it stats? Because I mine I can tell IP and referrers, but that still doesn’t let me know who is reading my blog personally. I can guess…

Ok, Porsche Boy. I’ll give it to you – it definitely WAS a quadruple dog dare, but I knew you’d take it on! ;)

And bring on the comments…your witty banter is MORE than welcome here.

So, moving on to the mystery Melbourne readers…

Interesting the stats you get, haven’t thought of that.

I have posted a few times, none of my family knows I blog (I decided I needed one secret from all of them, since they know EVERYTHING ELSE about me). I really enjoy your writing, it is so fun to read and I get inspiration from some of your posts. You were introduced via SAJ, who also inspires me.

    Thanks,
Anna – corny I know, but you triple dog dared, which usually scares me away, but thought I should leave a note this time :)

A bunch of my family members actually found my blog after my grandma died. I used her full name, a friend of the family googled her, found me and sent everyone the link. The reaction was positive, and I don’t mind them reading that one entry, but man! I hope they’re not poking around. I haven’t said anything scandalous, but I’d just rather they not read, or worse, read it and try to discuss what I wrote with me.
