10 Questions

1. Hitting the running trail again, and I’m dying to know what improvements have been made with Couch to 5k apps since I first completed it 4 years ago. Are there now ways to sync the program with your iPod while listening to your own music? Last time I did it, I was forced to listen to a podcast with shitty techno and creepy voiceovers. What’s the word, bird?

2. I need a new tinted moisturizer. I really like the one I use now (Cosmedicine Honest Face), but I’m wondering if something else out there might truly rock my world. (You know, since I turned 36 this past weekend. I am officially MID-TO-LATE THIRTIES. gahhhh age spots) I’m not a fan of Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer, but am wondering about Tarte Smooth Operator, Josie Maran Tinted Moisturizer and the Philosophy one. Do tell.

3. I feel like I’m not spending quality time with Wito. It’s hard to get out with little miss Nappy McNapperson, so I’m desperate for things to do around the house with him that don’t involve iPhone apps or re-enacting scenes from Cars or REALLY LOUD NOISES. Any suggestions?

4. My blog is ugly and I’m currently dreaming up a little makeover. Any features that that you would like to see here? Would you still like me if I only wrote about lip gloss everyday? Tired mom = lip gloss blog fodder to the max.

5. Will the 4-month sleep regression please leave me the hell alone? And why the time change, Daylight Savings Master (aka Satan)?

6. Would you hate me if I injected botulism into my forehead? This gigantic wrinkle crevice between my brows is atrocious. (Chill, mom. I’m not going to get Botox. Although I dream about it on a weekly basis.)

7. Did you see my Battle of the Rollers on Hair Thursday? Steam vs. Heat!

8. Have you ever started to chug a glass of water, only to realize it is Ginger Ale/Sprite/Club Soda mid-swallow? RAUNCH.

9. I’ve made it halfway through Boot Camp! 5:30am, 3 times a week. It ain’t messing around, but guess who’s (barely) back in her pre-pregnancy jeans?

10. If you had to live in the same house as a Nick Jr. character, who would it be? I would choose Kai-Lan. She’s generally upbeat and helpful, her grandpa is hella wise, and she could teach me Chinese! (Moose and Zee, you are always welcome in the Whoorl Household too.)

    OK, Questions 1, 2 7 and 9 I can comment upon…

    1. Another BIG yes for the Felt Tip C25K App. (brown icon with 5K white writing on it). It rocks. Your music can run in the background, it has great alarms when you change from walking to running. Its great. I am back at week 3 after getting to week 5 then breaking my foot this summer.

    2. HATE the Tarte Smooth Operator with a passion. Its very yellow. Laura Mercier was too chalky for me – so my quest continues but as much as I like Tarte as a company – big no to their products for the most part.

    7. Love the roller review. Am in the market for some new ones and was leaning towards the Caruso. maybe I’ll get lucky and win won instead :-)

    9. Yah for you! Though me=totally jealous. Have 25 pounds to loose and am stuck on the scale.

If there’s a two-for-one special to deal with the the “gigantic wrinkle crevice between my brows”? Call me. We’ll split the difference. (Ha!)

I have to say I can so relate to the “I like this product a lot and it seems to fit my needs in every way, so I clearly need to find something new and different,” sentiment. The painful trials of a product junkie…how does one ever know that the single un-tried mascara (un-tried because you were so stupidly faithful to your “favorite”) isn’t the best? Cosmedicine is actually in my top five but it looks like Sephoa is -gasp!- phasing out the brand? Josie Maran is my current obsession-love, love, love the dewy (not oily) argan glow. Bobbi Brown is also great and my #1, always-go-back-to pick is Boscia. Tarte is a yucky orange paste disaster, never tried Philosophy. Good luck!

    3. Does he like puzzles? May be a good option. My 4 year old seems to enjoy them. Bonus: Quiet!

    6. I wouldn’t hate you. I want my gigantic wrinkle crevice to go away too.

    10. Anyone but Ruby from Max & Ruby. She has really let that whole “Mom is away” thing go to her head.

I second the Origins rec. I love the hell out of that Vita-zing. Also, the eye cream in that line works too.

DJ Lance Rock. I know everyone thinks he’s totally creepy but I don’t.Or maybe Plex since he’s a robot and could be reprogrammed to clean my house and do dishes.

I have the Personal Running Trainer app. It has a bunch of different programs you can buy to go along with it – original app is free, with add ons ranging from 1.99 to 4.99 depending on the program – BUT you set up your own playlist.

I’ve tried many a tinted moisturizer. Here’s my thoughts on them, for my personal use. Your mileage may vary. :)

-I am quite happy with the Oil Free Laura Mercier Tinted moisturizer. Just throwing that out there, in case it means you’d like to discount my other opinions.

-The Tarte Smooth Operator goes on nicely at first, with nice coverage for a tinted moisturizer, but then it ends up oxidizing and turning a very noticeable yellow/orange on me. I am a fair girl, so I’m already using the lightest shade. Harumph. It got donated to a slightly darker complected friend of mine.

-The Stila tinted moisturizer is also nice, and doesn’t oxidize. My main problem with it is that it’s VERY moisturizing, and I don’t really need that feature. I end up feeling like I am all clammy on my face. If you have normal to dry skin, it would probably be great.

-When I wasn’t using the LM product, I used Bobbi Brown’s tinted moisturizer. It is great, just maybe one slight smidge sheerer than the LM coverage, and I kinda need a little help.

    GOOD LUCK!

Also, if your blog turned into a lip gloss only blog, I would be in heaven! I want to write that blog myself, but I am in med school and I am just not able to spend the time to do it!! Hence, I would love to read yours instead. :)

My son William and I made sock puppets a few weekends ago and it was a great time! He got to contribute to each sock “character” and using toddler-friendly supplies like sticky felt shapes allowed him to really pitch in. It’s also a great way to get rid of those socks that have “lost” their mate!

I use Benefit You Rebel tinted moisturizer. It’s not too heavy, actually moisturizes and gives a nice, light coverage.

Again with the Origins moisturizer- VitaZing. It is very subtle and stays smooth (no caking or smearing, ever). I’d love a lipgloss blog, seriously, anything you wanna write is ok by me.

I’d live with DJ Lance Rock in a heartbeat. Do you know how crazy shit must get in his house? Sign me up.

I have used a Neutragena tinted moisturizer in the past and was farely happy with it.

I second the vote for crafts (sock puppets, paper bag puppets) with your little man. Toddlers go ape shit over pom poms, googly eyes, glue sticks and felt. Shoot, I do too and I’m 34.

I am dangerously close to shooting botulism between my eyeballs.

I’d totally be down with living with Oswald and Weinie. Oswald and his many hands would be super helpful in wrangling children and he knows how to share.

Friend, get thee to Target and load up on the Boots tinted mousterizer. I have tried them all–highend to lowbrow–and this has been my go-to for a while now. http://www.target.com/Boots-Soft-Sheer-Tinted-Moisturizer/dp/B000PSX61M

I’m sorry to tell you the 4 month sleep regression will make you it’s bitch. I am in the throes of it right now and I hate that wiley bitch! I’m hoping she moves on to someone else’s house soon. Good luck!

    4. I love posts just like this! And I love your “I Think I’m in Love” series. However, I’m going to be honest…whatever you post here, I’m going to read because I’m a fan :)
    5. I hate sleep regressions with a passion. We went through every sleep regression known to man and if there’s one for 24 months we are going through it now. And don’t even get me started on DST. If yesterday he woke up at 4:30a and today was 5a does that mean its getting better?
    10. I think I might be hated for this but the show I actually enjoy watching is Blue’s Clues with Steve (not Joe). So I’m gonna go with that whole cast of characters…I mean you have Mr Salt & Mrs Pepper so they can cook, Slippery Soap & Tickety Tock no explanation needed, and Blue seems like a great dog to have who can let herself out and be responsible for her meals. Steve seems like a funny guy…so there you have it!
