Whoorl’s Packing Adventure

16

Thursday, December 6th

5:30 a.m. – Wake up. Still on East Coast time. Shower off the previous day’s airplane muck since I was too exhausted when I arrived home late.

5:45 a.m. – Chat with D for 5 minutes before he leaves for the new house to meet the contractor. He confirms that indeed the movers are arriving in 48 hours.

6:00 a.m. – Unpack toiletries from luggage. Just toiletries, though. Leave the rest in there. Might as well.

6:15 a.m. – Check Facebook. Twitter. Return emails.

6:45 a.m. – Too excited to wait any longer to see the kiddos. Stand outside their door, waiting to hear any sign of life. Wita coos.

6:46 a.m. – Bust in the room. Do a happy dance. We all jump for joy. Mommy’s home. Give them their presents. A Yoshi Remote Control Go Kart for Wito, and Wita’s first Barbie. (I bought Disney Princess Ballet Belle because she wears yellow, Wita’s favorite color. I probably should have bought her the regular princess dress Belle, but have you seen how much glitter is on those princess dresses? HELL TO THE NO ON THAT.)

7:00 a.m. – Make lunches for school. Get kids ready. Catch up on their week so far.

8:00 a.m. – Leave for school drop off. Drive straight home because it’s time to pack. For reals this time. NO MORE PROCRASTINATING.

9:00 a.m. – Eat some trail mix. Check Facebook. Check Twitter. Return emails. Organize inbox. Call my mom.

10:00 a.m. – Think about packing. Maybe I’ll start in the kitchen? Maybe I should tidy up the bedroom first? Yeah, that’s probably a good idea.

10:30 a.m. – You know, my body is still on EST. I should eat lunch. Sounds like a good day for In-n-Out. It will be a quick trip.

10:45 a.m. – Drive to In-n-Out.

11:10 a.m. – Return home. Eat lunch. Think about packing. It’s time to get serious. I have to leave in 3 hours to get the kids and THIS IS IT. Get crackin’, Sarah!

11:30 a.m. – Pack three boxes in the kitchen.

12:00 p.m. – Check Facebook. Check Twitter. Return a few emails.

12:20 p.m. – Freak out when I remember a realtor is showing the house at 2:30pm and it’s a wreck. (Of course it is. I’ve been gone for three days, remember?) Proceed to lightly clean entire house.

1:20 p.m. – You know what needs organizing? My purse. Clean it out – go through receipts. Call my mom. Watch a stop-motion Super Mario video on You Tube.

1:40 p.m. – It would probably be a good idea to run some errands before picking up the kids. I need to take care of some REALLY pressing issues like dropping off a package at the post office and returning a library book that is due in two weeks.

1:45 p.m. – Pack one box. (That makes a grand total of three if you’re counting.) Leave house. Run errands.

3:15 p.m. – Return from errands and school pickup. Feed kids snacks. Hang out. Make a few lists. Call my dad.

4:00 p.m. – Pack four boxes in the kitchen. Exhausting.

4:30 p.m. – Play a Thomas the Train/Barbie Belle/Super Mario Kart mash up with the kids. (This is the ULTIMATE display of procrastination, as I am just not a ‘get on the floor and play with the kids’ type.)

5:00 p.m. – Make dinner. Text D to bring home wine.

6:00 p.m. – D arrives. Looks a little confused since the house essentially looks like it did when he left at 6 in the morning. Crack open the wine. Drink wine.

6:30 p.m. – Pack a few more boxes because I’m feeling watched.

7:00 p.m. – Dance party with the kids. The Black Keys. Air guitar. Get them ready for bed.

7:30 p.m. – Kids down. Pull the time change card again. It’s 10:30 in New York! I’m exhausted! I need to sleep!

8:00 p.m. – Facebook. Twitter. Return a few emails. Oh, a sale at Madewell.com! Hmmm, did I ever receive credit for that return? Check credit card account. Check every existing online account in my name.

8:45 p.m. – Stare at the ceiling.

9:00 p.m. – Lights out. There’s always tomorrow. Maybe I’ll feel the pressure then.

Approximately 12,568 boxes not packed

Truffle Giveaway

It’s no secret that I’m an organizational freak. I love rearranging and purging items, making lists, and making lists within lists…essentially compartmentalizing my entire existence, you see. If I find something that feeds my organizational frenzy AND is totally stylish, I’m so in.

Enter Truffle.

You guys, these pouches are so perfect. How many of you go digging in the depths of your handbag for your keys/iphone/lip gloss on a daily basis? I do. ALL THE TIME. Especially when it comes to three things – my lip glosses (I carry about 5-6 at a time…I have issues), my pens, and my bribery iPhone. What’s a bribery iPhone, you ask? Oh, it’s an old iPhone filled with kids’ apps that I dangle in front of their faces like a delicious treat when I need them to take it down a notch. For whatever reason, when I’m desperately trying to get through the grocery line and Wita is screaming like a banshee, I CAN NEVER FIND IT.

This is when my Truffle saves me because it’s like my own personal organizer inside my ginormous bag. Take a look.

Pretty awesome AND it’s really good looking, to boot. It easily fits in my bag, and I always know exactly where my rogue items are hiding. The Truffle pouches come in four different sizes – from 8″ x 9″ (perfect for the gym, yo) to 12″ x 13″, and they have some really great colors right now. (You HAVE to check out the weathered felt ones.)

The lovely ladies at Truffle are giving away one No. 1 Clarity pouch in the winner’s choice of color to a lucky reader, and I’m allowing up to 5 entries per fabulous person. Yeeee haw, thanks to Truffle!
